Welcome to Heal Yourself, Change Your Life. My name is Brandy Gillmore, and after recovering from my own life changing injury, it's become my mission to share with others the same discoveries I made. that changed my health and my entire life. Our minds are truly incredible. The placebo is proof of this.

Each week I will take this simple awareness to a whole new level. I will even coach live callers to free themselves of physical pain using only their mind. And then I'll provide you with a combination of practical and spiritual insights that you can use to master your mind and body. Your emotions and your energy to help you heal your health, yourself and your life.

Let's begin.

Hello and welcome. It is so wonderful to connect with you. You know, I want to start by saying just again, I just love you guys. I have the best podcast listening tribe ever. ever, um, ever, ever. And so just, I am so impressed, you know, I know that the last topic was really sensitive, but you guys got it and learn from it and understood the importance of it.

And that was my biggest hope from my heart that you guys got it because The information is so powerful and we are going to build on this information today about misconceptions that get people stuck. And by the way, that's how I went through my injury is that I wasn't emotionally attached to the data one way or another.

I just wanted whatever worked and whatever made sense, I followed it. And that's what led me to get the amazing results that I got in my own life. And to be able to help other people tap into their power and get the results that they do, you know, by sharing these insights and you guys just got it. And I'm so impressed.

And I also received a ton of emails from people just saying, I get it. And the power is inside of me and you are so right. I just, I love that because the truth of it is, is it's exactly. That, I mean, the power is inside of each one of us. And I truly feel like every person in life should feel that way.

Empowered. And that doesn't mean that people never need some type of help from somebody else. But, ultimately, every person stepping into their own power. To me, that really is the picture of health. Of an incredible life, you know. And so, anyways, point being, I am so impressed. And just, thank you for being you.

And for being truth seekers. I just love it. And today is another truth bomb that may be a little bit sensitive to some people, but for most people, it's going to be absolutely eyeopening. And it's another misconception that I see that's hurting people. And I would say it is one of the biggest growing problems right now.

in the healing space that I am seeing on my end, where I'm having a ton of people coming into classes that are stuck or their health is declining rapidly because of the misconception that we're going to talk about today. And so that's where we're going to go. And by the way, I do want to say that I know that a lot of times when it comes to information or, you know, doing something, healing, whatever it is, I know in our world, it can feel very confusing because you can hear one person saying one thing and then somebody else saying the exact opposite thing.

And I totally understand that also. And so the information that I share with you today, I am going to back it up with data so you can clearly see it. And so it makes logical sense. And so what I'd strongly recommend as you're on this journey with your mind and understanding healing is that you're going to want to be very careful about the information that you do take in and make sure that it's true.

You know that you take it in and you know that, okay, this has got to be valid information. And the key that I have used to doing that is to make sure that I can see evidence of it somewhere. And it doesn't have to be the exact thing, but just somewhere that you can see some type of evidence, you know, and actually, for example, if you think about the regular weekly podcast episodes on most of them, I'm coaching people how to use their mind to release pain.

Or if you think about the recent one with the, art teacher at the university who had the frozen shoulder and coaching her to use her mind to get her shoulder moving or all kinds of things. When you stop and think about it, for most people this sounds crazy, but if you stop and think about where could we see evidence that this could really be possible, we could look at multiple personality disorder, where a person can be in different personalities.

and have different ailments, different pains, asthma, allergies, pain, all kinds of things, even be blind in one personality. and be able to see when they're in a different personality or alter, as you would call it. But, you know, when they're in one alter compared to another, a person can have different ailments and different things going on.

And even if you think about the past episode where I worked with the woman who was 80 percent blind and we worked with her mindset and her vision was able to come back, which I know sounds really crazy to a lot of people. And we can also see That with multiple personality disorder, that has also happened as well.

So there's just a lot more going on with the mind. Then a lot of people realize but we can see some evidence of it or even the placebo We can all see that we have power in our minds to create healing results Though it works a lot differently than most people realize but either way point being is that we can see evidence of all of these things all around us and we can see that and not just from Evidence of data all around, but even, you know, if you think back to episode number 10 with the woman who had the tumor in her throat, there's evidence because the MRI showed the tumor, and then the MRI showed the tumor was gone.

And I could go on and on and on with all kinds of things, but point being, anytime something is true, you should be able to see some type of evidence of it in our world. And so having that open mind to be curious about both expansion, you know, the looking outside of the box and having an open mind for the next level, and then also being able to look around and say, okay, where can we see evidence that supports this new way of thinking?

And when you can move in that way through life, it's really helpful because then it can help Make everything even more effective and just get better results and being able to question something from all angles is So powerful and again, that's exactly what I did Even when you stop and think about it, even when I started thinking about okay Well, we can see that stress affects the physical body.

We know that that has been proven over and over and over again sure, I could see that and I also questioned, where is this not? Meaning that I could look at it from the other side and say, wait a second, there are plenty of people who have very stressful jobs. Officers, military, you know, all kinds of people who aren't sick.

How is that possible? And so that's what I did is I was able to look at both sides. And that's when I began to realize in my research that it takes multiple emotions. So, you know, you've probably heard me say this before at some point, you know, that it's kind of like if somebody is trying to make cake and they have flour, they can't make cake.

But if you take flour and you mix it with eggs and butter and yada, yada, yada, or vegan eggs and butter, whatever, you know, you mix it with a recipe, then you have cake. And in the same way that it always takes a recipe, in the subconscious mind to link up to some type of ailment going on. And that was a huge breakthrough in my work for healing myself and also helping others that said, as we go through this, I would ask you to please keep an open mind just because the information that we're going to talk about.

I know that a lot of people have fallen into this misconception and more and more people are doing so every day. And you may be this person and you may not, but if you have, then I would strongly suggest just kind of thinking about the data, thinking about this information that I'm about to share with an open mind.

Just because, again, it is the biggest growing misconception that I see with healing that is causing more and more problems. And there are several of them, don't get me wrong, but this is just the biggest one that I am seeing that is causing a lot of problems. in people, and a lot of healers have become the source of this information.

And, of course, I don't want to point any blame towards healers because the truth of it is, I have never met a healer who wanted to hurt people, ever. You know, not intentionally ever. And so that said, if you are a healer, please know that this information is not meant to be hurtful at all. But my hope is that it helps on this beautiful journey.

And if it is something that you are doing, then you'll want to make sure to rethink it and see if you can change things in a different way. So that said, I know that there's a lot of like prefacing up to this, and that is because. All of the time I get people who are kind of triggered by this, even though it may not seem like a big deal to a lot of people.

But I can tell you that every week since I've been doing this work publicly, that people are triggered by this information. Healers typically are and You might think it's crazy, and if you think that, I'm with you, like I absolutely agree. And the information is this, is it's basically that a lot of people are saying that they feel like we should feel all of the emotions of the rainbow, so to speak, to allow ourselves time to really grieve and go into the negativity.

So if something does happen, allow yourself time for a period of time to just grieve or allow yourself time to just be in the negative. And for a lot of people, they might think, Well, you should do that. That's what's being kind to yourself. And for a lot of people, they would say, Wait a second, lift yourself, get out of the negative.

And some other people would say, Wait a second, People are triggered by this and I would say yes all of the time. I can tell you I have emails and messages in my support email box right now of people messaging in saying shouldn't you just allow yourself time to just be down and to just be in the negative and to just grieve and to just be there for a while or another person Who's literally in my support email box right now Who's saying that she doesn't believe that you should change anger That it's right to feel angry that you should feel angry about Injustices that if somebody does something wrong to you You should feel angry and that's the way that you want to stand up for yourself is to feel that sense of anger And that anger is healthy to feel now if you stop and think about it for a moment There is no data that supports that it's healthy to go into the negative or it's healthy to let yourself, quote unquote, grieve.

I mean, in fact, the data shows exactly opposite. You know, if you're familiar with the widowhood effect. Where when one person dies, you know, a spouse dies, the partner can die very shortly after. And the highest death rate is in that first week, even after a person dies, or even in the first three months.

So if somebody is telling you, just let yourself grieve and go into the negative, well, that's based on whatever spiritual beliefs they may have. But that's not based on data, you know, if you think about data regarding the widowhood effect, there's years and years and years and years of data showing that the death rate is the highest in the first three months.

And so somebody who's a practitioner with healing will say, well, you know, give yourself a few months to grieve and just be in that negative place and just allow yourself to do that. But, Instead, what you want to do is, you know, do little things to start making yourself feel better and, and support yourself and be loving to yourself and put some effort towards it.

You know, does anybody expect that it would be absolutely perfect and flawless and you're just going to be. happy and grinning the next day. No, but you want to give it your all and try and do what you can to start lifting yourself if that's the case. Or even when somebody says, you know, you should feel angry.

And that's the way that you stand up for yourself. And a certain amount of anger is actually healthy for you. Well, Again, data doesn't actually support that. And even in general optimism or emotional vitality, you know, there was a study that was done at Harvard by Laura Kubzanski over a 15 year span, and I think it was something like 6, 000 people, so a decent size study, and they showed that the people with the highest amount of emotional vitality, you know, the highest amount of optimism.

actually decreased heart disease by about 20%. And if you think about heart disease for a moment, that's the number one cause of death in the U. S. and worldwide. And just by having that general emotional vitality, she was able to see a significant difference in the data, so much so that that was the outcome is that she suggested that she was from that study that emotional vitality can help reduce the onset of heart disease.

And again, you might be somebody who's listening to this, who's thinking, of course you want to go into the positive, or you might be somebody who's here thinking, oh my God, well, I've had plenty of healers before tell me that I should just sit with the negative. And I see that all the time. But even if you think about the regular episode where you see somebody.

shift out of pain, you can see that there's a positive benefit to getting out of the negative emotions as quickly as possible. Now, what I'm seeing from people in my classes are people who have been through some type of trauma or problem or even loss of a loved one, and unfortunately They're coming in with health issues and they've gone to some healer who doesn't know about Emotions and the mind and how it all works who tells them that they should just give themselves time to sit with the grief And they don't realize that That they're giving that person bad advice.

Like, you don't want to have people sit in the negative. And of course, that's not saying that people aren't going to experience the emotions of loss. But, it's important for a person to have a desire to want to lift themselves. And unfortunately, what I'm seeing is there's becoming this belief in the spiritual communities that it's better to like experience all of the feelings of the rainbow, if you will, and have people sit in those emotions.

And then what's happening is it's harder to get somebody out of those emotions because they feel like it's more spiritual to be with their negative emotions. So they're ending up. With more and more health issues going on and part of it is having to do with their hearing they should just sit with the grief or be in the negative and it's showing up in a variety of different ways and When we stop and just look at negative emotions for a moment I mean I have worked with people who have had some type of trauma like PTSD of loss of a loved one And then ended up with a sudden onset of diabetes or other issues or even the well known situation if you think about Carrie Fisher when she died and her mother, Debbie Reynolds, literally died the next day.

I mean, it was tragic and even when it happened, when Debbie Reynolds died the next day of a stroke, there were many people who immediately said, you know, you know, They felt it was due to heartbreak and the loss of her daughter and all of the emotions that went with it. And so what's happening is I'm seeing an increasing number of people who are stuck in some type of negativity, either from a traumatic event or from the loss of a loved one or a variety of different things.

And now they're getting these beliefs from a spiritual healer. that says that it is best for them to just be in all of the emotions of the rainbow, if you will. And what's happening is that people are getting locked into the illness and then also feeling like it would be unspiritual to change. And a lot of times, thank God, what I'm able to do with people is I show them as they shift the negativity, Their pain goes away and they can see it.

And by seeing that change take place, then they start to go, Oh, well, wait a second. Then what I was told by XYZ person can't be correct because I can see that I'm out of pain now. And I see people have that experience. All of the time, you know, if you think about the regular podcast episodes, where let's say somebody says, Oh, well, I was just told that I should just sit with my anger and I'll see somebody like that, who maybe has a level eight of pain somewhere in their body.

And I say, okay, well, you know, let's, let's do this. Let's just try and see what would happen if you shift out of that anger and you actually let it go. And then, so of course. They'll go ahead and take a moment to start shifting and letting go of the anger and as they do They can see that their pain is going away And so from that you can see that it's not just Brandy who's saying let go of your anger You can see that the body is actually saying hey this anger is causing a problem And as they release it, they can see that change take place for themselves.

And so I love that where people can actually see the results. And speaking of that, I know that this is different from what a lot of people believe. You know, a lot of people have a belief that says you should hold onto the emotions and for that reason, if you are somebody who is feeling conflicted or is feeling triggered by this information, I get it.

I totally understand. There were things that I had believed going into my injury that kept me very, very stuck. And so from my heart to yours, I hope that this becomes expansive for your mind. And, you know, I mentioned earlier episode number 10, where there was the beautiful woman who had had a tumor in her throat and her and I worked for an hour and 15 minutes, and she was able to shift everything radically.

I mean, she radically shifted her emotions. And. When she showed up for surgery the next day, the tumor was gone and that was verified from the ENT. So her surgery was canceled. Now, if you think about it for a moment, in her case, she had that tumor suddenly show up in the middle of all of these fires here in Southern California.

And so her tumor was part of that trauma response. And unfortunately, of course, a lot of healers would say, well, just allow yourself to be in the negative and experience what's going on. And when her and I worked, I said, you know, let's shift out of this really quickly. to be able to get this tumor gone.

And that's what she did. And she's amazing. I have so much respect for this woman. And if by chance you've missed that episode and you're still conflicted about how fast you should shift emotions, I'd strongly recommend going to listen to episode number 10. I mean, she's just a beautiful woman and has been around the block with all kinds of healing methods.

I mean, she used to run her own imprint. for Simon and Schuster for Conscious Books. And so she's been around the block. She's definitely seen all kinds of different healing modalities. And we talk about that in episode number 10. But what helped her was to create that radical change in her emotions, in her mindset.

And she was amazed. She didn't think it was even possible. So I love that. And again, from my heart, I just, I know that there are going to be some people who are saying, you know, eek, that this, you know, the idea of changing emotions and rapidly feels off to them. Because when we stop and think about it for a moment, creating a radical shift in our emotions is not something we see really anywhere in our culture.

Which is, of course, also why the healing results that I get with people are thought to be impossible. You know, even if you think about every single episode where I've shown somebody how to release their own pain, it's not just because I'm so amazing, it's because we are all amazing. And I'm just simply coaching somebody on how to use their mind in a different way than other people.

people normally do in our culture. And so if you think about, if you want to get different results, you've got to do something in a different way. And so from this, my biggest suggestion, there's four primary takeaways, you know, first and foremost, if you are somebody who has heard that you're supposed to just sit with all of your negative emotions and just be with them for a period of time, then my biggest suggestion would be to look up the data on this, to look at the widowhood effect and notice that based off of data, The first three months and even the first week, unfortunately, has the highest death rate.

And that's not all about the widowhood effect, but it's just the awareness that you don't want to sit with negative emotions any longer than you need to, and the best time to start shifting out of those negative emotions is As soon as you possibly can because negative emotions of all kinds can impact you and that's what I see on a regular basis, you know, obviously not just with the widowhood effect, but in a variety of different ways, it's just that the widowhood effect is unfortunately the easiest evidence that we can see clearly that you don't want to hang out in negative emotions.

And of course, even PTSD. Itself post traumatic stress disorder. It has, you know, increased levels of stroke right after some type of traumatic event And you know, there are other things that we can look at for evidence as well And what you can also do is notice there is no evidence Anywhere that says sitting in negative emotions or sitting in depression or sitting in grief can be positive for your health.

That data doesn't exist. And so I know that a lot of healers have shared this information with people from a place of really wanting to help and be compassionate and come from a great place just again, the problem is is I'm seeing it affecting people. in their health and trying to help shift them out of it.

Even more than I can express, it is a growing problem. And my hope is that nobody takes it personally, but just looks at the data and understands it. And that we can make this positive shift in our spiritual community. So I would definitely look up the widowhood effect or broken heart syndrome. You can find the information under those.

And I'll go ahead and leave the link. Links at the end of this podcast episode so you can look at it. and see the data on it. So that's the first thing that you want to do. Um, the second thing is if you are somebody who has believed this and felt like it was best to really sit with all of your emotions and, and feel them, give yourself permission to really let them go and to start moving into the positive and really feeling that.

So you don't want to lie to yourself or bury emotions. But instead you do want to allow yourself and give yourself permission to feel happy and to start shifting in that direction. Which leads to number three is that if you are somebody who has been in that negative place, then I would invite you to decide how you want to feel.

And start bringing in those new feelings. And that's a lot of times what I'll have somebody do is start bringing in the new positive feelings and then don't just bury the negative, but then you can go back and really dissolve those negative feelings, but it's easier to do so. If you start moving yourself into a happier, more positive place.

And even if you're not somebody who's stuck in a really deep negative place, maybe this is just a moment for you to look at your life and reflect. And maybe you look at your life and say, you know what I noticed over the past week, I've been getting frustrated a lot. And that's been a pattern that I've had for many years.

And. I'm going to start changing that. I'm going to decide instead that I want to start feeling, however it is, you know, I want to start instead being able to deal with things from a different place where I'm moving through it more harmoniously. And so maybe that's the shift that you start making in your life.

Or maybe you have been mourning the loss of somebody and you take a moment to really give yourself permission to start being happy again. And I know we talked about that a couple episodes ago, and I have to say, that is part of what sparked this very episode is that some healers reached out and said, but you should have people sit with the negative emotion.

And it's like really actually based on all data, you should not just sit in the negative emotion. You should move into the positive. And then. From that positive place you can work with the negative and really resolve things at a deeper level in the subconscious mind but you don't want to just sit there in the negative based on all data and Even every bit of work that I have done with people personally where you know Um, shift them out of pain or all kinds of things that getting out of those negative emotions and then going back to dissolve them at a deeper level of the mind is a much better way to move forward.

And that said, number four, if you are somebody who is new to this podcast, first and foremost, welcome. I love that you're here. And what I'd strongly recommend doing is, of course, looking at the information on the widowhood effect or broken heart syndrome and seeing that really staying in negative emotions after any type of negative event is not what you want to do.

But instead you really want to work on lifting yourself in a most loving, wonderful, and supportive way, of course, but working on moving through the emotions as best you can Again, if you are new, I would invite you to go listen to a past episode and notice where, you know, I'm working with any of the volunteers and they're able to shift out of pain by simply shifting out of those negative emotions.

So that's always the goal. And that's something that you always want to do. And by the way, you might be somebody who's here who's saying, well, So, of course you want to shift out of the negative ASAP and I love that. And clearly it means that you haven't been in the spiritual communities where you've been hearing this.

you know, this messaging of just sitting in the negative and giving yourself a period of time to just grieve or be in the negative where, you know, not trying to change it, but just sitting with it. Cause that's very much becoming more and more a narrative that is just increasing. And so at least it's something that, you know, ahead of time, and that's great because then you can protect your way of thinking and And I would also invite you to of course, look and see if there's any negative pattern in your life that you'd be willing to start changing and looking at it and being willing to start really transforming it into something positive.

And so that's my biggest suggestion is I just want to invite you to see how you can implement. some of this in your life and look at shifting it, whether it's allowing yourself to be in the positive or moving through the negativity a lot faster or changing a pattern or making sure that whatever you're doing makes logical sense to you.

And I just say that just because, again, I have been seeing so many people start taking a downward spiral Because they're told to just sit in the negative and it's negatively impacting their health and their life and Again, if you look around at all of the available data, there is nothing that says that after something negative happens to just allow yourself time to just sit with the negative for a while and that it's going to be good for your health or for your life.

In fact, the opposite. is true. And so on that note, maybe you can put in a happy song that really makes you feel lifted and lifts your spirits even more. Even if you're somebody who's already happy, maybe you're taking it to the next level, but do something that makes you happy, that makes you feel good.

And as always, if you could share this episode with somebody you love, somebody you care about, or somebody you feel who's been stuck in the negative, so maybe they can give themselves permission to just move through it that much faster, it is good for our health, our vitality, our lives, and of course, your happiness.

And so on that note, I wish you a most wonderful, happy, and healthy rest of your day, and I look forward to connecting with you on the next episode. I'll see you there.

Thank you for listening to Heal Yourself, Change Your Life.
