Welcome to Heal Yourself, Change Your Life. My name is Brandy Gillmore, and after recovering from my own life-changing injury, it’s become my mission to share with others the same discoveries I made that changed my health and my entire life. Our minds are truly incredible. The placebo is proof of this.

Each week, I will take this simple awareness to a whole new level. And then I’ll provide you with a combination of practical and spiritual insights that you can use to master your mind, your emotions, and your energy to help you heal your health, yourself, and your life.

Let’s begin.

A Heartfelt Welcome

Hello and welcome. It is so wonderful to connect with you. I just love that you are here, continuing to expand your mind, your energy, your consciousness, your healing. I just love it, and I just love today’s episode for so many reasons. There are just really profound insights from it that we can see.

But before we dive in, I just want to take a moment to wish you and your family a happy holiday. I hope that you’ve been able to celebrate, to laugh, to connect, to love, to be playful, to enjoy. You know, just all of the good things and really take that time with your friends and family and feel that connection because that’s one of the things that I just love so much about the holidays. It does—it adds a general cheer, if you will, like a lightness or a happiness or a connectedness in so many ways.

You know, we should have something called happy January and happy February and amazing March, just because the amount of sweetness is—it is so—I just, I love it. I just absolutely love it. And so I hope that you’ve been enjoying your holidays.

I was actually thinking about this the other day as I was going to the airport. I went to see my mother and my brother. Brothers and sister and nieces and nephews and just, you know, a big family gathering up in Washington. And so I went to go see everybody. But as I was in the airport, I’m walking through it, you know, just everybody is saying to one another, you know, “happy holidays,” “Merry Christmas,” “happy Hanukkah,” whatever it is, you know, but just happy holidays. And it’s just really sweet to notice the interactions and the sweetness.

Divine Timing in Today’s Episode

Diving into today’s episode, you know, all of the time, these episodes end up unfolding in divine timing. And that is so true with today’s episode. And the reason I say that is because, you know, on the last podcast, we were talking about the importance of optimism. And for most people, optimism seems really easy, especially for people who’ve been studying personal development or spirituality or self-help or whatever you want to call it. But all of the time people identify as being an optimist.

And I know I did this personally. I identified as being an optimist and yet there is so much depth to this. There’s always so much more to healing than people really see. And so, that’s one of the many things that I love about today’s episode—it’s that you can see even more of the depth, if you will. And of course, our volunteer, you’re absolutely going to love her. She has a beautiful, beautiful heart. Just a really, really beautiful being.

And, again, the insights are profound. And so that’s where we’re going as we step in with our beautiful volunteer, Anne. Here we go.

Anne’s Story: Exploring Subconscious Blocks

Brandy: Hello. Hi, Anne. It’s wonderful to connect with you.

Anne: Same, wonderful to connect with you. Thank you.

Brandy: And what can I help you with today, beautiful?

Anne: Well, um, I’ve been thinking how much information to give really, because it’s quite a long story. But I had an accident in 2002. I was hit by a trailer walking, so my pelvis broke in several places. Ever since that, I’ve had various pains and aches throughout my body, mainly around my hip, my left hip, uh, and then my back. Um, and it’s kind of varied through the years.

Brandy: Okay.

Anne: So sometimes it’s been, uh, really not nice at all. And sometimes it’s been manageable. And whenever it’s kind of dipped below the manageable level, I’ve, I’ve, you know, I’ve had to do something about it. So I’ve been to various therapists. You know, physiotherapists and, and then some strength training and, and, uh, various things. Um, so I’ve been, I’ve always been thinking that this is a physical issue. Uh, this it’s, it’s all physical and, uh, kind of blaming myself for not doing enough about it.

Understanding the Mind-Body Connection

Brandy: I hear you. Now, let me ask you, on a scale of 1 to 10, what level of pain are you experiencing right now?

Anne: It’s always there. It’s always, always there. I’ve never been free. The level I would say now, three, maybe four, and it’s up in my neck.

Brandy: Bingo. So give me one sec.

Brandy: Bingo. Okay. So we’re just going to look at this for a moment. Bingo. If I ask you, how much you can find the feeling of feeling like, uh, the feeling of feeling like it’s always one thing after another?

Anne: 10? 15?

Brandy: 15? Now, if I ask you, how old were you when you first heard that phrase, “It’s always one thing after another”?

Anne: I don’t really know. Probably. I can just connect it to having children, I think.

Brandy: Okay. So I’m going to ask you to breathe. And so what, you had like one child after another after another. So you have like 400 kids?

Anne: Oh yeah.

Brandy: Yeah, of course. Of course, right? Talking about miracles today. Incredible. All right, so I’m going to ask you to breathe. And what if it was just like one thing after another after another getting better, by chance? Like, what if, what if things were just getting better and better and better and better? What would that look like?

Anne: Oh, that would be nice.

Brandy: What would that look like? And by the way, how would you feel about life if life was just getting better and better and better?

Anne: It would be excellent, obviously.

Brandy: Great. So I’m going to ask you to breathe.

Anne: Oh yeah, yeah. Of course, of course, right? Talking about miracles today. Incredible.

Brandy: All right, so I’m going to ask you to breathe.

Releasing Guilt and Pain

Brandy: All right. So let’s go ahead and pause it just for a quick moment. You know, first and foremost, I just love her. I love her self-awareness. I love her laughter, her feeling as these insights come up, and she’s like, “Oh, I see it,” in such a sweet way. I love that.

And I also really love this insight because, as you can see, that feeling of feeling like it’s just one thing after another, after another is present. And she can see that. And also what happens all the time is this—people identify as an optimist. And yet there are all kinds of subconscious links, such as this, that are actually opposite of optimism.

Deeper Layers of Optimism

Brandy: The reason that I point this out is because, again, this is divine timing. If you think about the last IQ episode that I did just a few days ago, on that episode, I talk about the importance of optimism. And all of the time, people identify as being an optimist, and I’m not judging because I did this very thing.

And yet, for most people, there’s some type of programming that is counterintuitive or opposite of optimism that is stuck in the subconscious mind that people don’t realize. And so they identify as being an optimist, and yet their subconscious mind is not really wired to be an optimist. And so I love that this builds on the last IQ episode that we can see that, yes, optimism can be powerful for healing.

As we talked about on that last IQ episode, people who are most optimistic can actually live 15 percent longer. And not only that, but optimism has been shown to speed up cell proliferation—so cell regeneration, healing. And so, yes, the studies have shown that, and it’s powerful and it’s incredible. And also, you can start to see there is depth or layers to it that are hidden in the subconscious mind.

The Power of Rewiring

Brandy: And that’s my point that I want to emphasize—all the time on these episodes I’ll say, I make it look really easy to get results, and it’s because, of course, I understand healing in a different way. And also the subconscious mind, and understanding what’s in it, and identifying what’s in it, and then really knowing that it needs to be rewired at a deeper, deeper, deeper level.

So, I love that. And let’s dive back in with our beautiful volunteer.

Returning to Anne’s Session

Brandy: Great. Now I want you to think about exactly that. How you would feel about life if things were just getting better and better and better. And that was just life. That was just how it worked. That was just life—things were just getting better and better and better. How would you feel? What would that feel like?

Anne: It would feel like I wouldn’t be struggling all the time.

Brandy: Okay, so I’m going to ask you to breathe. And if I ask you if you find the part of you who loves to stay busy?

Anne: Yes. [Laughing] You pinpoint it so well. Funny, yeah.

Brandy: And if you were to just sit down and relax, how would you feel about that?

Anne: Generally, I feel guilty. I have to, yeah, I should be doing something. I should be useful.

Brandy: Okay. So, if I have this feeling that says, “If I relax, I feel guilty,” then one thing after another after another is actually helping me to not feel guilty. It’s just one thing after another after another, right?

Anne: Well, it’s illogical, isn’t it?

Brandy: Well, it gets better, actually, because if I have pain, then I’m allowed to do what?

Anne: Oh, so the only time I can relax and be guilt-free is if I have pain. Oh.

Brandy: Delete, delete. This isn’t true for me. But notice, someone asked you to breathe.

Shifting Perspectives

Brandy: Now this is delete, delete, delete—not true for me. But I’m going to ask you to breathe. And I’m going to ask you to notice what that would look like in your life if you didn’t have to stay busy. You, yes, you can have a productive day. Then you can have a super loving day and relaxing evening. And, yes, absolutely. I believe in a productive day—feeling great, feeling efficient, feeling fantastic—and then also time for love and time for connection and time for play and time for relaxing.

Like, so what happens? If it looks like that, what does that look like?

Anne: This is what other people do. I’m not allowed to do that somehow.

Brandy: Oh. Yeah. And who gave you those rules?

Anne: Well, um, I can remember my mother calling me lazy. And she said I was even born lazy.

Brandy: Okay. Yeah. And you see how you’ve proved her wrong.

Anne: Oh, yeah. It’s one thing after another, after another. There you go, Mom.

Brandy: There we go. There is no balance. We go from one end to the other, right?

Anne: Yeah.

Brandy: Okay, but what if you’re motivated and excited, and also you have balance and it feels good? What does that look like?

Anne: Oh, there are days when I kind of achieve that, and those are the best days.

Brandy: Bingo. So I’m going to ask you to breathe and close your eyes and take in the awareness that you could actually find balance that feels incredible.

Applying Balance to Life and Family

Brandy: Now, by the way, I want you to think about your children for a moment. And think about their lives. Would you want them to just have one thing after another after another, or would you want them to have a productive, amazing, wonderful life and then time to relax and have fun and play and enjoy also, right?

Anne: Yes. Oh, definitely.

Brandy: Okay. So I’m going to ask you to breathe. And I’m going to ask you just for a moment, what if life and everything wasn’t all a pain in the neck, but what if it was actually great? So I’m going to ask you to breathe.

Reflections on Struggle and Healing

Brandy: All right. So let’s go ahead and actually pause the session right here. You know, I just love her self-awareness. I love her self-honesty. I love her insight and her heart and just, again, her awareness that she is where she is. And also her willingness to change. You can see that, you know. You can feel it. She’s just been on this road for a while where she’s got laughter in the midst of also knowing that she feels this way—that she’s felt this way—the heaviness, as she mentioned. And that life would just feel so much lighter if she wasn’t stuck in the struggle.

I just know that feeling all so well. When I went through my own injury or when I see people with these feelings all the time who are in that same place where life starts to feel not as fun, or you feel like you’ve lost your ambition for life. Even though you’re optimistic and trying to be optimistic, the inner feelings or the heaviness or the struggle or whatnot.

Key Insights to Take Away

Brandy: And the biggest thing you want to remember—there are two key insights I want to share with you here. Number one, you want to remember that how you feel about life is what life is going to reflect back to you. You know, most of us, going through life, we just want life to be amazing and then we’re happy.

And I know during my injury, that’s exactly what I wanted. I wanted life to just get better, and I heal, and then I’m happy. And when I really started understanding the mind, I realized that, okay, so if all change starts from within, I better change. And so that’s when I really started reprogramming my mind and understanding it and reprogramming my subconscious mind, you know.

And all the time, you hear me say, you know, people will say, “Well, Brandy, of course you’re so happy. You got your life back.” And I say, no, of course I got my life back—or even better—because I’m so happy because I changed inside of me. And of course, it’s not just happiness. It was, you know, releasing negativity from the subconscious mind and fears and creating that real change and that real deeper change inside my subconscious mind. It was pivotal.

Avoiding the Pattern of “One More Thing”

Brandy: And so my point from this is, when we stop and think about it, all of the time people are wanting life to get better. And what we really need to realize is we are the power. And nobody’s going to necessarily be able to do it for us. We are the ones that really have to say, okay, we’ve got to make this change.

And by the way, notice as she was talking, as I was working with her, where I said, “Okay, well now that’s one more thing you have to do.” And you want to be careful not to fall into that trap either, because if you start thinking in that way, it just becomes part of the pattern. “Oh, well, now I need to reprogram my subconscious mind.”

But that’s the thing—when you really get good at reprogramming your mind, it feels euphoric. It feels uplifting. It feels like there’s nothing you’d rather be doing than that, because it feels incredible. And of course, getting good at it is key. But when you’re doing it, it just, it feels incredible because that’s the mind programming that you’re putting in. So that’s what’s beautiful—it does feel light. It does feel free. It does feel good. And so wanting to remind you to remember to remember. To really create that change on the inside.

Looking Ahead to the New Year

Brandy: Now, another key insight I want to invite you to look at from this particular episode is this. Again, this is divine timing because we’re coming into the new year. And what do people typically do? They may write down all of the things they want to do. “Okay, I’m going to lose weight. Okay, I’m going to go to the gym. Okay, I’m going to do this. I’m going to do this. I’m going to do this.”

So they write down all of the goals of all of the things they want to do, and they forget to really leave time for themselves. And so that’s something that I want to invite you to look at as you’re coming into this new year or writing your goals or whatever it is that you’re doing coming into this year. Are you making sure to write in time for yourself, time that you get to spend with you, or time that you get to spend relaxing, or time that you get to spend alone?

Brandy: So those are two of the insights that I really want to share with you from this episode. Now, there is even more, so we go deeper on this episode to unpack it even further. But I want to go ahead and just pause it right there to kind of break this down into bite-sized chunks that you can start applying in your life.

Rewiring the Subconscious Mind

Brandy: By the way, notice for a moment how I’m talking about rewiring the mind at a deeper level. So if you are somebody who really wants to go deep with this, I’d strongly recommend that you do. Come and join my video course and go deep—really gaining the tools and the techniques to understand what is in your subconscious mind and how to reprogram your subconscious mind at a deeper, deeper, deeper level.

Because a lot of times, you can see the different insights, and you can see with more clarity what is going on. To be able to really reprogram your mind at a deeper, deeper, deeper level takes another skill of understanding how to work with the mind. Of course, it’s like a computer, you know. The more skills that you have to work on a computer, the easier it is to do anything. And similarly, the more you understand your subconscious mind and how to identify things in your subconscious mind and rewire your subconscious mind, the easier it is to do and be successful.

Reclaiming Joy and Ambition

Brandy: And so if you are somebody who’s working on healing or even healing your outlook towards life—where you’ve lost your joy of life or your ambition. Because so often, I see people who have been in that place—who have been in a place of struggle and strain. Or people who message in and say, you know, somehow they lost themselves along the way. The joy, who they were, their laughter, their love, their ambition for life.

And so, if you are there, the exciting thing is, is you can get it back. I mean, that’s where I was during my injury. I lost love for life. I did not like life. It was hard. It was painful. It was fearful. It was a struggle. You know, I felt all of that for years. And simultaneously, I felt like an optimist. I was researching and trying to figure it out and get out of the mess and all of that. So I was optimistic in part, but not at a deeper, deeper, deeper level. I felt all of these mixed fear emotions and stress emotions also.

And so, you know, whether you’re working on healing your mindset or healing your life, that real change is key. So I want to emphasize that because all the time, as I say, you know, I make this look really easy. That’s one of the things that I love about this episode also—that you see there’s depth. There is.

But when we master our minds, we really can create an incredible change. That, of course, that’s the gift. That’s the gift—a life-changing gift. So, just noticing that. Again, I want to invite you to look at your year ahead and see also how you can implement this in your life to take your life, your health, your happiness to the next level.

The Power of Collective Healing

Brandy: So that, of course, is the focus. And let’s be honest—as you hear me say all the time—the more that every single person in our world is healthy and happy and loved and loving and feeling alive, that’s the focus. The better this world is for all of us. And so I love that.

And on that note, I want to ask you to please do take a quick moment to hit the share button on this episode. You know, share it with somebody you love, somebody you care about, or somebody you don’t even know. Because the more that we can spread this love and connection and joy and empowerment, the better this world is for all of us.

Looking Ahead

Brandy: And so on that note, I do wish you an incredible, wonderful, fantastic rest of your day. And on next week’s episode, we’re going to go deeper into unpacking the rest of this session with Anne. We’ll continue on because, of course, there are more powerful insights from it. So I look forward to seeing you there. Have an incredible rest of your day.

Closing Words

Brandy: Thank you for listening to Heal Yourself, Change Your Life. And I do want to be clear though, that most people will not get results this fast on their own. I make it look very easy because of the discoveries that I made. You’ll want to remember that there’s so much more going on in our minds at a deeper level than people realize.
