Hello, and welcome to this week's quick IQ episode, where we talk about insights and questions. And today I want to share with you a very powerful insight that I see impacting a lot of people. And it has to do with the topic of having patience and also the awareness that a lot of people's lives are moving faster and it feels like we have more and more responsibilities or demands or things to show up to.

And what can happen is, if you've experienced this, is sometimes you may find yourself showing up. for something in a state of rush or having less patience. And what I've seen all too often is people may find themselves being a little bit short with their children or short with their spouse, and they're responding from a place of brevity.

that can feel cold or impatience, which then doesn't feel good to the other person. And then it can trigger, you know, some feelings of frustration or guilt. And a lot of times I'll see that spiral impacting people and it can impact your health. It can impact your relationships. Of course, it can impact your business.

I mean, literally impact everything. any area of life. And so I want to take a moment and talk about that because a lot of times what can happen is people can have this pattern in life and it keeps happening. It keeps happening and it's kind of like stubbing your toe on the same piece of furniture three times a week or five times a week.

You know, just when we have a pattern or something that's affecting us that we're not. changing. We want to make sure to take a look at it because I have worked with people, whether in business or in their personal life, who have gone into these cycles that has impacted them, and they feel stuck in it.

And a lot of times what will happen is people just tell themselves, well, you need to have more patience and they beat themselves up. But instead, there are some simple things that you could do to really start to change this. So you're not, you know, continuously bumping up against this trigger, this pattern.

It's not impacting you, you know, again, like stubbing your toe on the same thing every day. But of course it's stubbing your energy. It's affecting you. And for a lot of people, it affects them more than they realize. They'll feel guilt from being impatient or whatnot, or again, impacting their relationships.

And in fact, there's a client that I work with, a beautiful, beautiful being, and she owns. A very successful company that's great for the planet, multi million dollar company, and it's doing great things. So I love supporting companies like this. And this was something that was an issue for her about a year ago.

And she was experiencing a feeling of shortness with her kids. You know, she has three beautiful kids who she loves. And what was happening is that as she was busy and trying to deal with all of these things and get things done and she was in this flow, if her kids came to her or said something, she could find herself snapping at them.

And so there's a few things that I want to unpack, you know, first and foremost, if this is impacting you, one simple thing that you could do is instead of beating yourself up, is decide how you do want to respond and start getting that into your mind. So where you decide ahead of time how you want to respond.

So once you notice, okay, well, I'm finding myself being short or abrupt. you know, if, whether it's your kids or your spouse or in business or wherever that is, noticing where you might be showing up like that, and then decide how you want to do or be differently. So how do you want to respond? And I got to say, a lot of times I've worked with people who are, you know, who are experts in their field in a lot of different areas.

And sometimes what comes up for people is they say, well, I just want everybody. And all my employees to do faster, better. And they just, they were like, I just want everybody to just keep up with me. And in that moment, I'll remind them, there's a reason you're the expert at this. So when it comes to children or people or your spouse or whatever it is, you know, we can all be great at what we do and having a mindset to remember that others may not be as fast is of course.

You know, and, and I can tell you that people have, I've seen people who have literally changed their relationship with their children. in major ways, in beautiful ways by, by really coming from that mindset of understanding their children and understanding their mindset and having more patience and how it's been pivotal in their lives.

And so that's one thing is really having the right mindset. And then also. the right energy for it. Because let's be honest, all the time people might tell themselves, well, I just need to be more patient. I just need to be more patient. But if their feelings don't match that, then what can happen is it's like you're feeling a sense of angst and telling yourself, be patient.

And that's never going to be successful. That's like feeling really, really frustrated or angry at somebody and saying, I love you. It's just not authentic. It's not going to come. through. And so that's another thing you'll want to do is remember to set the tone of your energy, your emotions to match where you want to be.

And what you could do is you could set up little easy habits or reminders to help you to quickly shift your energy. For example, you know, on my Tuesday morning meetings. There's seven of us on that meeting and What I do is I make a point to ask each person how they're doing on the meeting and by the way I have an amazing team So I'm super super grateful and but even no matter how many things we have to talk about to get done I make a point to ask each person how they're doing.

And that right there just puts my heart in the front of whatever's happening and whatever needs to be done. And you know, the get stuff done mode, it allows me to just drop in with my heart and say, okay, let's operate from this place. And so everything that gets done from that place, it just feels better and smoother and the teamwork it's, it's beautiful.

So that's one thing or another thing that I'll do, let's say there's a bigger meeting or There's always just a simple way that I will drop into the present moment to say, okay, let's be here, or I'll make silly random jokes that are just random and playful. And so let's say that we're getting things done and, and there's, you know, there's a, a flow that needs to happen.

And in the midst of all that, I always am making silly, ridiculous comments. Like if you ask my team, they'll say, Brandy's ridiculous. That's what they'll say. Because when we're doing things or getting things done, I believe that yes, we want to get things done and be productive. And yes, we want to be playful and laugh at the same time and enjoy it.

And if we can mix both, it becomes fun and productive and great. It just feels incredible. And so. What I want to invite you to do in your own life is that if this is showing up for you in a certain area where you're, quote unquote, you know, stubbing your toe on the same piece of furniture over and over, if it's something that's repeatedly coming up for you, I want to invite you To do exactly that, to decide how you want to respond first and make sure that you have that right mindset where you're coming from the mindset of compassion or understanding or your perspective is really, you know, even with, with children, your perspective is really saying, okay, I remember what it was like to be a kid.

And maybe that's what you do is you take a moment and you say to yourself, gosh, when I was five, if my parents were short with me, if they were impatient with me, how would that have gone? And so getting that perspective or even with your team or with whomever, your spouse, and so making sure to gain perspective.

So you really get the other person's awareness of how they might feel. And I would do that because when you have that perspective, it is empowering. It helps you to respond in a better way, to show up in a better way. And so that, and then of course, deciding how you want to feel. And when you decide how you want to feel, then there are simple little things that you can do.

Whether it's being playful and having a joke, or being random, or making sure to ask a question such as, How is somebody doing? But slowing down to take a moment to do that. Because if you have little prompts, for yourself that remind you to slow down and to be very present that can help you to show up in an even better way.

By the way, one last quick insight, and it's this, it's that if you find yourself as you're doing things that you always have a bunch of distractions come up. That is also typically a sign that you are out of alignment with something, that you're not aligned with something. And that's what'll happen is that let's say somebody is going after their dreams or they're working on building their business or whatever it is, and constantly it's like one distraction after another comes up, then that's another thing.

And that. And with that, if that's the case for you, then you'll want to definitely make sure to handle the situation well, and then also look at, okay, what is going on? Why am I out of alignment? What's happening in my subconscious mind that is not aligned with your conscious desires? Because that is, of course, another aspect.

And by the way, to unpack this a little further, what I mean by this is that, you know, all of the time consciously. We'll want something specific, you know, consciously, if you think about, you know, the unfortunate example that I've, you've heard me use on past episodes, you know, a woman who has an abusive father leaves him and finds the abusive boyfriend, boss, spouse, et cetera, et cetera.

You know, unfortunately we know in psychology, we know that that pattern can continue. Now consciously this woman. Wants, of course, to have a wonderful human being, to be with her, to love her, to be kind, to be nice, consciously. But then subconsciously, there can be a lot of mixed programming or there's that old wounding and that pattern continues to breed more of the same.

Now, that's a relationship example. Where somebody's wanting something consciously, but the subconscious programming is different, and that, of course, happens in every area of life. People who consciously want more money, but then also have patterns that are blocking them, where they have patterns that keep showing up of unconscious programming.

That doesn't want to manifest more money or more success or health or happiness or real I mean all kinds of things. So I just want to make sure to note that as well because if you are in a place where you're getting a ton of distractions, and that's something that I've seen all of the time, of course, people can get very frustrated with it.

They feel like everything they ever wanted, like they want to go after it and yet one distraction after another after another. And that's something that you would want to address separately as well. So if you are having that issue, definitely you want to make sure to show up for those distractions kindly, but you also want to make sure to take steps to reprogram your subconscious mind to align with what it is that you're wanting.

So you're not ending up with continued distractions as well. So your life feels So that is today's quick IQ episode.
