Welcome to Heal Yourself, Change Your Life. My name is Brandy Gillmore, and after recovering from my own life-changing injury, it’s become my mission to share with others the same discoveries I made that changed my health and my entire life. Our minds are truly incredible — the placebo is proof of this.
Each week, I will take this simple awareness to a whole new level. I will even coach live callers to free themselves of physical pain using only their mind. Then, I’ll provide you with a combination of practical and spiritual insights that you can use to master your mind, your emotions, and your energy — to help you heal your health, yourself, and your life.
Let’s begin.
The Overlooked Key to True Transformation
Hello, and welcome to this week’s Quick IQ Episode, where we talk about insights and questions. Today, I want to share with you two key insights that can help you create transformation in your life — in your emotions, healing, relationships, and ultimately your happiness.
All too often, people overlook the most pivotal key to creating real change. To build on this awareness, I want to use my recent volunteer from Episode 241 as an example. This beautiful woman, Suzette — just positive, sweet, happy, loving — was an absolute delight to work with. If you listened to that episode, you’ll recall how excited she was about playing pickleball — she loved the game! She was sweet and loving toward her husband, and he clearly adored her too. It was just a beautiful, connected relationship.
Uncovering Hidden Emotional Hurt
Yet, underneath the surface, she had some hurt feelings. She felt hurt that her husband wanted to play pickleball with other people instead of her. Though she buried it, that small emotional wound was affecting her energy and health. And even though her husband’s intentions were loving — he simply wanted to maintain harmony in their relationship — that underlying feeling still lingered.
When you think about this, it shows something powerful: you can have a loving relationship, a positive mindset, and a beautiful outlook on life — and still have subconscious emotional hurts that affect you deeply. Suzette was a happy, high-vibration person, yet even she had unaddressed feelings that were quietly influencing her health and energy.
Why “Just Thinking Positive” Isn’t Enough
So many people today are doing all the things — meditating, using affirmations, listening to binaural beats, practicing visualization, working on their mindset — and yet, they still struggle to heal. I know this, because I did it myself for years. I meditated endlessly, practiced gratitude, stayed positive… and nothing changed — until I learned to address the specific emotional wounds underneath the surface.
That’s why I always say: healing requires more than meditation or thinking positive thoughts. You must identify and transform the specific emotions and patterns that are holding energy in your body. That’s where real, lasting results happen — not just for healing, but for relationships, career, and happiness too.
Insight #1: Address the Specific Emotion
No matter where you are — whether, like Suzette, you’re in a great place but have buried hurt, or like I was, you’ve been struggling deeply — identifying those specific emotional patterns is key. Many people meditate, visualize, and stay optimistic, but until they target those precise emotions, they remain stuck. True transformation happens when you bring awareness and love to those specific places within.
Insight #2: How We Take Things to Heart
The second insight I want to share builds on that — it’s about how we take things to heart. Sometimes, what hurts us most isn’t what happens, but how we interpret it.
For example, imagine a man who asks a woman out. She says no. One man might think, “Okay, no problem,” and move on confidently. Another might think, “I was rejected,” and feel deeply hurt. Same event — totally different meaning.
How we label an experience determines how we feel about it. In Suzette’s case, her husband didn’t reject her; he simply made a choice that was healthy for their relationship. Yet, the way she took it in — the emotional meaning she gave it — caused pain. And that’s true for so many of us. We often label experiences in ways that hurt us unnecessarily.
Being Mindful with Labels and Emotional Meaning
In today’s world, we’re seeing more and more psychological labels — terms like “toxic,” “abusive,” “narcissistic” — being used to describe situations or people. And while awareness is important, sometimes those labels reinforce pain rather than release it.
On a past episode, I worked with a volunteer who labeled a past relationship as “abusive.” While her feelings were absolutely valid, holding onto that label kept her stuck in emotional pain and even affected her physical healing. Once she released the label and focused instead on empowerment and forward movement, her healing accelerated.
So, we must be mindful of the words and labels we use — both consciously and subconsciously. How we define our experiences determines whether we stay stuck or grow stronger.
Healing Comes from Healthy Assimilation
The key takeaway here is to make sure that you’re taking in information and experiences in a healthy, empowering way. If something feels hurtful, ask yourself: “Is this truly rejection, or is it just a different perspective?” Reprogram your mind to interpret life with more love, balance, and understanding. When you do, your emotions and energy begin to shift — and your life follows.
Closing Thoughts
As always, please take a quick moment to share this episode — with someone you love, someone you care about, or even someone you don’t know. Because the more happy, healthy, and loving each person becomes, the better our world is for all of us.
Please make it a point to have a most wonderful, loving, and fantastic rest of your day, and I look forward to connecting with you on the next episode. We’ll see you there.
