My name is Brandy Gillmore, and after recovering from my own life-changing injury, it’s become my mission to share with others the same discoveries I made that changed my health and my entire life. Our minds are truly incredible. The placebo is proof of this.
Each week, I will take this simple awareness to a whole new level. I will even coach live callers to free themselves of physical pain using only their mind. Then, I’ll provide a combination of practical and spiritual insights to help you master your mind, body, emotions, and energy so you can heal your health, yourself, and your life.
Let’s begin.
Understanding Why We Get Stuck in Healing
Hello and welcome to today’s quick IQ episode, where we talk about insights and questions. Today’s question is about getting stuck and getting unstuck during healing, and what the hardest part of creating change really is.
I love this question because, as you may know, during my own injury, I was stuck for years. One of the biggest reasons? Misinformation. I had fallen into the wrong information and stayed there. It was only when I started to see what I was doing wrong that I gained clarity and empowerment to do things right. That shift enabled me to heal myself completely.
The Problem with “Raising Your Frequency”
One growing issue I see today is misinformation around concepts like “raising your frequency.” Did you know that cancer cells actually have a higher frequency than healthy cells? They emit more bio photons—or energy—than non-cancerous cells.
So, it’s not as simple as just “raising your frequency.” Think about it like your heart rate. A heart rate that’s too high can be problematic, right? Similarly, emotions are specific. For example, someone might blush due to embarrassment—either from a compliment or from humiliation. Same response, but two very different emotional triggers.
In healing, specific emotions matter. For instance:
- A person with Panic Attacks may experience racing heart and shortness of breath.
- Someone feeling grief may feel like there’s a “hole in their heart”—and, as I’ve seen, that emotional pattern can even manifest as physical holes in the heart.
The mind-body connection is specific and powerful, like the placebo effect.
Why You Shouldn’t “Love the Illness”
Another misconception I see is people sending love to their illness. It’s like feeding a stray cat—if you feed it, it keeps coming back. Now, of course, I love animals, but in this case, loving the illness can create problems.
The subconscious mind seeks positive rewards. If a person starts receiving love and attention for being sick, the subconscious may associate illness with love. For example:
- Some people are critical of themselves when healthy but kind to themselves only when sick.
- Others feel guilt for self-care—like getting a massage—unless they’re ill.
The result? Their mind has no incentive to release the illness because it’s linked to love and kindness. Instead, we need to learn to give ourselves love for simply being human.
Understanding the Placebo and Beyond
Initially, I believed the placebo effect worked purely due to belief. For years, I tried forcing myself to believe I was healed—but it didn’t work.
Then I discovered something called the Open Label Placebo. In these studies, both the doctor and patient know that the treatment is fake—and yet, it still works. For example, the first study on open label placebos in the 1960s at Johns Hopkins showed results even when people didn’t believe the treatment was real.
This research taught me something critical: healing isn’t just about belief. There are deeper, logical steps that must come together to activate the mind-body connection for true healing.
Breaking Patterns to Heal
Another key insight is recognizing the patterns that keep us stuck. Patterns often start in childhood:
- For example, a child feels rejected, and a loving adult says, “They’re just jealous; you’re better than them.”
- That same pattern can show up later in relationships, work, or even health struggles.
Repetition, compulsion, and reenactment of these patterns can block healing. But when you understand and shift these patterns, everything changes.
Empower Yourself with Understanding
Here’s the most important takeaway: understand your mind. Misinformation keeps so many people stuck. But the more you logically understand how your mind works, the more you can empower yourself to heal.
Think of it like learning a computer. If you don’t know how to use it, it’s frustrating. But once you understand it, it becomes easy, productive, and even enjoyable. The same is true for your mind.
Final Thoughts: Implement This in Your Life
To wrap up, here are a few steps you can take right now:
- Stop falling into misinformation traps—look for the logical, deeper layers of understanding.
- Make sure you’re giving yourself love and kindness simply for being you—not just when you’re sick.
- Recognize and shift any patterns that may be blocking your healing.

That is the point and the power of these demonstrations: to create a radical shift in our world consciousness by showing everyone what we are all capable of. And of course, each volunteer really needs to follow through to reinforce their programming and maintain their results. But the point is for you to see that you can create rapid results in your health and your life if you truly understand how to use your mind.
You are incredible. And I do want to be clear, though, that most people will not get results this fast on their own. I make it look very easy because of the discoveries that I’ve made. You’ll want to remember that there’s so much more going on in our minds, at a deeper level, than people realize.
