Hello and welcome to this week's quick IQ episode where we talk about insights and questions. And today I wanna share with you a very important insight regarding the topic of self-love and self-care. Because you know, if you're here, you know the importance of self-love, of feeling good. Yourself because the more you feel good about yourself and really love who you are, of course it can support your happiness, your healing, your relationships, your enjoyment in life.

You know, that is one area of life that literally affects everything. Your work, your confidence, you know, just feeling good. And so, For that reason, I wanna unpack this topic a bit more because all too often there can be a lot of mixed emotions on this topic that keep people stuck. And one example of that we can see, if we look at last week's episode, we had our beautiful volunteer, Lily.

And if you recall, she had been beating herself up. You know, she's a caring mom who cared about her son, loved him, and. Mentioned that. No matter what she did in the past, she looks back and she feels like she always was a disappointment. She always fell short of being who she wanted to be. And my point in bringing that up is a lot of times people can have subconscious programming that inhibits self-love, meaning this, you know, most people by now have heard about the importance of self-love and.

What can happen is a person can go to bring in a feeling of self-love and really feel that, except for they can feel guilty about or like they don't deserve it, or they're punishing themselves from the past. And so what happens is that your mind will literally block you. From really feeling these feelings, and that's the insight that I wanna share with you today, is that if you are working on self-love and really trying to bring that in, trying to create a shift in your life, there are two key things.

You know, foundational pieces that you will need. To be successful at this, and the first one is to make sure that you don't have any mixed feelings about self-love and feeling good about yourself. Meaning, you know, if you're trying to bring in more feelings of self-love, but there's a part of you who feels like.

That's egoic or you don't deserve it, or it's selfish, or any of those things, they will subconsciously block you from really making that change. And so you'll wanna definitely shift that and rewire that programming in your mind. if that is true for you. So that's one thing. Now, the second key insight is this, is that you may have heard me on past episodes talk about what I call emotion controlled consciousness, and basically this is the awareness that I've found that your emotions really do control your consciousness.

Perspective in life. And one way that we can see this, where research has shown this, if we look, is that we've heard before, you know, if somebody's really, really in love with a person, they have a tendency to see all of the great things. And if you are really, really, really upset with somebody, You'll have a tendency to see all of the things that you don't like, the frustration, all the negative in that person.

Now, what I've found in my work is that this isn't only true in relationships, but in life in general. You know, if somebody's experiencing a lot of. Fear towards life. They'll see all the fearful things. Or if they have a tendency to feel a lot of anger towards things in life, they'll find the things that make them angry.

You know, whatever emotion is going on inside, we're gonna see more and more of that. And it's going to color our perspective, if you will. You know, emotion controlled consciousness. Now, my point being, Is that a lot of times what'll happen with people is they might have feelings towards the self. It says the self isn't good enough, so they're feeling not good enough about self or being critical of self, or feeling like self is less than.

And of course, with these feelings, it's gonna shape what you see. Meaning that just like if you really, really love somebody and you feel all these loving feelings, you see the greatness and wonderful things in them. The same is true with you. The more you feel a sense of love towards yourself, the more you'll automatically see those things in you.

And so point being here is that you'll wanna make sure on the second one, that you radically feel differently. So if you have been feeling bad about yourself or feeling insecure or feeling not good enough, then to really shift the consciousness and this pattern, you genuinely need to feel differently.

And part of the reason that I emphasize this is because all of the time I'll see people who are trying to implement self-care and self-love, where they're taking actions to try to be caring towards self. But s. They're feeling guilty. I mean, I've seen mothers who feel guilty for taking time for themselves.

You know, they might go to take a bath or get a massage or just enjoy, and they're feeling a bunch of guilt. And so the idea of even doing something for self. Feels like it's bad, which then can create feeling bad and guilty and self-criticism, et cetera, et cetera. So it puts a person into a spiral. So I'm just wanting to really emphasize this because all of the time, again, you know, I just see people who are working on this very topic, and yet they're not creating the real.

That is needed to master it, to make it life changing. And that's a key part as well, is that you'll hear me say on every single episode is that genuine change is key. And so you can't do this partially and expect it to work. In fact, sometimes if you do it. Partially, it can actually trigger you backwards.

You know, you can feel guilty about it or this, that, the other. So real change is key. And of course, as you feel genuinely loving and kind towards yourself. It allows you to show up that much better in your relationships anyway, in your relationships with your spouse or your kids, or your family, or whomever.

And so I wanted to share these key insights with you and invite you to apply whatever you're needing to implement. Into your life.
