Hello, and welcome to this week's quick IQ episode, where we talk about insights and questions. And today we have. several great questions on one particular topic. It's just beautiful. I love how this unfolded. And so the question today has to do with the topic about whether to push yourself or to not push yourself.

And beautifully, This question came in because of the last few weeks, the volunteers on the podcast. And even last week, if you recall, I was working with a beautiful volunteer, Camille, and she was able to shift away her pain, her discomfort. And part of what I also asked her to do was not push herself. And as you also know, on several other episodes, I am asking people to push themselves or I'm pushing them a bit.

And so this topic about pushing yourself or not pushing yourself, let's unpack this. Now, first and foremost, I can say that a lot of times in our community, as far as self help or spirituality, a lot of people, they hear the word push. Push, and they think, Oh my gosh, that can't be spiritual. But if we stop and think about it for a moment, any mother giving birth or any animal giving birth, there's a level of push.

So we all come into this world with a push. So I'm not against the idea of pushing ourselves because that's ultimately how we come into this world, how we're born, how we grow. I mean, even if you think about our muscles for a moment and our physical body, How do they grow? They grow when we overload them.

So as we overload them, our muscles can grow and tone and, and that's the way our bodies are set up. And even if you think about a tree, you know, a tree will grow a stronger trunk if it has some wind and some resistance, then it makes it grow more. And so, point being, pushing can be a great thing. Pushing can make us grow.

Pushing can help us to step outside of our comfort zone to take our lives to the next level. And of course, the wrong type of pushing can make us feel overwhelmed, stressed, not good, um, and create a extreme amount of stress, which was actually part of what was happening with last week's volunteer, you know, just kind of pushing herself really wanting and, and it just, you know, that feeling.

And of course, if you haven't listened to that episode, I definitely recommend doing so. I mean, so many people messaged in and just absolutely loving her and the insights that came from the episode and her self awareness was just. So, but coming back to the point of pushing, that's exactly the way that you'll want to look at it is that there are going to be certain times when it is very beneficial to push.

It'll help you grow, you know, again, relating back to a pregnant woman, you know, of course, when she's ready to deliver. giving a push is going to be needed, but at four months in, giving a push isn't necessarily needed. And so it really depends on where we are. Now, as you'll hear me working with people on the podcast episodes, sometimes what I'll do is this, is I'll know somebody's very stuck, and if they're very stuck and they're very stuck, they're likely not going to get up.

unstuck without a push. And so the way I look at it is like this, is a few ways, is first and foremost, let's say they're experiencing some type of physical pain. And if I push them to then create that change and they're able to release their pain, Then they become in choice, meaning that now they can see the difference.

You know, kind of like if you did something and suddenly you were out of pain. No, now you know, Hey, you can do it. In other words, if somebody's really stuck up, push a bit so they can see the difference, because being able to see things in a different way can be powerful. And so that said, you'll notice from these examples that any time that I'm going to push somebody, to get unstuck, or to go to the next level.

There's always that benefit. And that was our question from today is when to know to push and when to not, you know, when to not push. And so that's what I want to invite you to look at in your life. And what you could do is this, is that the truth of it is, is a lot of times, if we don't push a bit, We'll stay stuck in our quote unquote comfort zone and we don't go to the next level.

And so that's one thing I want to invite you to look at is, is there an area of your life that you're ready to push yourself a bit and if so, how would it feel to push yourself a bit? So in other words, if you were to push yourself some and it feels stressful and overwhelming and fearful and horrible, then that's not where you want to go.

But if you push yourself a bit. And it feels expansive. It feels like next level. It feels like having courage. It feels like expanding. Great. That's the difference. And so that's what I want to invite you to look at in your life is exactly that. You know, even if you think about when I have, push somebody on the podcast to get out of pain or, you know, push them in a specific direction.

It's always towards the positive. It's always having them shift in a way that is moving them towards the positive, despite some of their own resistance. And so that's what I want you to look at for a moment is, do you have resistance? And if so, do you need to push a bit? And if you do push, how is that going to feel for you?

And really reflect on this in your life because, again, as you know, if you're not stepping outside of your comfort zone in one way or another, you're not really going to grow. And maybe, by the way, maybe you've been wanting to date for a long period of time or get into a relationship and you've been afraid to do that.

And so maybe the nudge for yourself, maybe the push is saying, okay, I'm going to get out there and do that. Or maybe there's been something you've been wanting to learn or do, or maybe even connect with new people or more friends or whatever that is for you. All right. So that's today's quick IQ episode.
