Welcome to Heal Yourself, Change Your Life. My name is Brandy Gillmore, and after recovering from my own life-changing injury, it's become my mission to share with others the same discoveries I made that changed my health and my entire. Our minds are truly incredible. The placebo is proof of this. Each week I will take this simple awareness to a whole new level.

I will even coach live callers to free themselves of physical pain using only their mind, and then I'll provide you with a combination of practical and spiritual insights that you can use to master your mind, your emotions, and your. To help you heal your health yourself and your life. Let's begin.

Hello, and welcome to this week's quick IQ episode, where we talk about insights and questions. And today we have a really great question from a listener regarding the topic of overthinking things. Now she wrote in and her question was basically that was, how come I always am overthinking? everything. Now let's dive into this because it is such a great question and the first thing that we'll want to start with is the awareness that everything your mind does, it does for a reason.

Whether it seems like it or not, there's always a reason for it. You know, if you think about it, As you're walking around, your brain doesn't typically run you straight into a wall. You know, we have reflexes and [00:02:00] programming in our subconscious mind that is intended to keep us safe and to help us. The problem is, of course, is that the subconscious mind can get miswired, in which case, then it does things that are not helpful.

And so, When we stop and look at this, when it comes to overthinking things, what you'll want to pay attention to is not necessarily just the thoughts themselves, but the emotion that they're coming from. And the easiest way to think about it is like this, is it when we have. strong emotions. It drives our way of thinking.

And so, for example, if you've ever been in an argument and even after the argument is over, you may notice in your mind, if you're still feeling frustrated, you may still be stewing on the problem or even having the argument in your head, thinking to yourself, I should have said this, or I should have said that, or I can't believe he said this, or she said that, whatever it is.

But [00:03:00] it's like that argument is continuing in your head. Or on a positive note, if you felt really in love with somebody and you just can't stop thinking about the person, you know, it just, you find yourself talking about the person, thinking about the person. It's just this. feeling and it controls your thoughts.

And so when you think about this for a moment, we've all experienced this in one way or another, and it controls our thinking. So from this, we can see that our emotions have the ability. to control our thoughts, which is opposite from what a lot of people think. A lot of people think that our thoughts control our emotions.

But, of course, each, each one can feed each other. However, between the two, our emotions definitely have more influence. over our thoughts. You know, if you've ever been in that situation with an argument and you're frustrated or still upset about the argument [00:04:00] and you tell yourself just let it go, you may have found yourself where your mind continues to go back to that argument or with the example of feeling in love, you may tell yourself, okay, look, I'm just going to get focused and go back to work or go back to whatever it is.

I'm not going to talk about the person or think about the person for a while. And then five minutes later, you notice your mind is Again, going back to that love or mentioning that person again. So we can see from these examples that our emotions can have a very strong influence over what we're thinking.

Now if we take this awareness, where our emotions control our thoughts, so we're looking at things opposite. of the norm of what most people are looking at, but we look at it in the opposite way. We say, okay, wait a second. Our emotions can control our thinking. Okay. So we come from that mindset. And then if we bring our awareness to the fact that [00:05:00] emotions can get stored in our subconscious mind.

What happens is these emotions that are stored in our subconscious mind do the same thing. They can control your thinking. So if you have a really busy mind, what's typically happening is that there's a lot of stored up emotions. And these emotions are then keeping your mind very busy and chaotic. And so, a lot of times what people will try to do is they'll just try to engage in mindfulness or quiet their minds, but instead, what you'd really want to do is identify and understand what these subconscious emotions are that are creating this chaos and identify and release these patterns because that's when it becomes pivotal, you know, when we take information in our subconscious mind, and we genuinely identify and transform it, it can change our health, change our life, change our level of happiness, and [00:06:00] also mental clarity and ease the mind from all of this stress.

And so that's. ultimately what you'll want to do. And if there's something that you're overthinking, then you'll want to notice why is that and what is your brain trying to quote unquote help you with or what subconscious emotions are being triggered and genuinely identify and then transform those. All right.

So again, really great question and bringing this all together. You know, if you notice your mind is overthinking things instead of getting frustrated with it or mad with it or critical of your own mind, making sure to understand why it's doing what it's doing. And so having that sense of awareness to look at it from that perspective, that's number one.

And then of course, number two is identifying what is the emotion that's driving. these thoughts. Is it fear? Is it upset? Is it anger? Is it hurt? Is it what, [00:07:00] what is it that's going on that's driving them? And then of course, number three, making sure to transform any subconscious patterns so you can clear your mind to shift your health.

and also shift your life. And by the way, just a quick note, you know, I know when I was working with my mind, as far as learning how to heal myself, the idea that my subconscious mind could really actually heal my body and change my life seemed a bit far fetched. I mean, it obviously, uh, it made sense enough to keep following through until I understood it, but at the same time, part of the reason that I followed through is because I had no other option.

You know, if I had had another option, I probably would have done something else. But since I had tried every diet and supplement and every type of thing that I could with the mind and you know, nothing was working to actually get my body to heal itself, that's when I really started [00:08:00] looking at, you know, what do I need to do, what do I need to change?

And our minds are so incredible that the changes that I've been able to see people create in their lives and even create. In my own life are far beyond anything that I could have imagined that our minds could possibly do. And it's truly incredible. And so I just want to say, emphasizing that when you do identify things in your subconscious mind, making sure to genuinely change them, because for a lot of people, they'll have a tendency to bury the information or, or argue back and forth with the information.

But when you genuinely transform your mindset. It is pivotal. And of course, that starts with the awareness of being willing to look at your mind in a different way. And so, that's what I love about this question, is that it just brings a different level of awareness of… how you want to look at the mind and proceed in a [00:09:00] different way.

And so I just, I love this episode and I want to ask you, as always, if you could make sure to hit the share button on this episode, you know, share it with somebody you love, somebody you care about, or somebody you don't even know, because the more happy and healthy that every single person is in our world, The better this world is for all of us.
