Welcome to Heal Yourself, Change Your Life. My name is Brandy Gillmore. And after recovering from my own life changing injury, it's become my mission to share with others the same discoveries I made that changed my health and my entire life. Minds are truly incredible. The placebo is proof of this. Each week, I will take this simple awareness to a whole new level.

I will even coach live callers to free themselves of physical pain, using only their mind. And then I'll provide you with a combination of practical and spiritual insights that you can use to master your mind, your emotions, and your energy. to help you heal your health, yourself, and your life. Let's begin.

Hello, and welcome to this week's quick IQ episode where we talk about insights and questions. And today we have a really great question from a listener regarding processing upsetting things in the world and whether or not to avoid it and how to do it and how to protect your own energy and All of that.

So I just love her question and her email reads, hi, Brandy and team. I wanted to see if you could help shed some light on the following questions. When something upsetting happens in the world, it can trigger either a desire to ignore the issue to protect oneself, or it can trigger feelings of sympathy, sadness, and anger, which can really bring one's energy down.

Could you please offer an example of a more positive emotional response to world suffering? And, since everyone mostly creates their reality through their own energy, would external help fail to help them? Would it fail in helping to create lasting change? Alright, so these are some really big questions and some really great questions, and technically there are a lot of different Answers to this question and the reason being is because everyone is in a different place, you know, during my injury when I was working on Recovering and healing myself.

I would have completely Avoided it because I needed to and I'll unpack why that is but now in life for me to navigate my life I need to know what's going on. It would be like driving with my eyes closed to not pay attention. And I'll explain again how I do that and the mindset of that and why for each.

Because again, everybody is in a different place. It's much like if a person asked, is it good to go swimming? Well, if a person has a large open wound, it's not going to be great to go swimming. And similarly, if we are in an emotionally wounded place, you know, like during my injury, I had a lot of fear. I had a lot of problems, stress going on.

I was in a dark place, you know, I got to a point where I did not even want to live because, you know, I didn't feel like I could heal. I mean, there were some dark moments during my injury. And so at that time. Paying attention to the news and what was going on in the world would not have been helpful for me, and it would not have been helpful for anybody else.

Now, as soon as I say, you know, that I avoided it, I know that there are people out there who would think Immediately, well, that's just spiritual bypassing or putting your head in the sand. But again, I wasn't in a place that that would have been helpful. And when people say that, so you might hear somebody say, well, if you're not paying attention to things, then you're just spiritually bypassing.

But what you'll want to remember is that's their opinion. It's not based on data. So if we just break it down to data and we look at things like grief or anger or fear, those can and do. Impact healing. There have been studies that have shown, you know, if a person even goes through surgery or even under wound healing, if a person has a lot of feelings of fear or grief or anger, you know, a lot of negative feelings, then it can slow down healing.

It slows down cell proliferation, and cell proliferation is basically the growth and division of cells. You know, the process of healing and cell proliferation I mean, that's involved in all types of healing and illness from cancer to rheumatoid arthritis to all of these different things. And so my point being is that yes, you will hear some people say, just avoiding the negative is spiritual bypassing is burying your head in the sand and you won't want to do that.

But if it is impacting you emotionally, where it creates fear or anger or grief or upset, data will show you that those emotions can and do impact your physical healing. And so. The truth of it is, is if you're in a place of healing, and that's how it would make you feel, or it would elicit those specific emotions, then yes, right now, for your own protection, for your own healing, you would want to avoid it until a later date when it becomes helpful for you to process.

So again, it depends on where you are. Now, for me, I would feel like if I don't know what's going on in the world, it doesn't feel safe, like paying attention to what is going on, but that is because I work with people. All over the world. And if I don't know what's going on, then that's not helpful for me to be able to operate and navigate my life and talk to people and have compassion and be aware.

So again, it's all about where you are and respecting that place. Now, another reason that you may want to avoid the negative for now. If you were in a state of healing is also because, you know, you'll see me on past episodes where I work with people to help them release pain or, or shift some type of emotional wounding.

Now it looks really easy and that's why I say literally at the end of every single podcast episode, I make this look really easy. And I do because there is so much more going on to create a real shift. And part of what that is, is even a shift in consciousness or perception, meaning this, meaning that emotions control our perception.

And you may have heard me talk about this before on past episodes, but a simple example is if somebody is really, really in love. What do they see in a person? They see all of the good things. But if somebody's really pissed off at somebody, what do they see? They see all the negative or their fault finding in that person.

And so point being is that our emotions control our consciousness, what we see. And so if somebody's living in a state of fear, they will see one fearful thing after another and after another. So part of what I needed to do during my injury or even That I have people do all of the time, going through my classes and workshops and whatnot, is that shifting consciousness is key.

So it requires really reprogramming the mind at a deeper level and creating that shift. And my point being is that if you're working on healing from something major or something that has been chronic and ongoing, then going back and forth between strong emotional states is going to make it a lot more challenging.

And also, it's going to require you to really, genuinely reprogram the subconscious mind. And so, point being is that, that it will also be another reason that you'd want to filter the information that's coming in. And you know, personally, during my injury, I did not watch news. I did not watch anything on television that would be negative or anything, anything like that.

It was all about just really protecting my mind in that way to be able to make that shift. And then of course, understanding how to reprogram my subconscious mind and shift my consciousness and all of that. So it was really about. mastering my mind at a deeper level. And I have to say, you know, a lot of the things that I did to heal myself are completely counterintuitive.

You know, they're opposite of what most people do, but that's the reason that I healed is because I didn't do what everybody else did because most people who have what I had, they don't heal. They don't get better. So obviously I had to do things in a completely different way. And so, you know, even during my injury, I did have a lot of underlying fear.

That was part of what was affecting me and there were other things, but I had to program my mind. Now, if you think about it for a moment, here I was injured, didn't know if I was going to get it better, didn't think it was even possible for me to heal. You know, I couldn't work, couldn't do everything that I needed to do to take care of my life and myself, you know, injured in all of this pain.

And. then here I was programming in feelings that I'm safe, you know? And so that is very counterintuitive. And so point being to heal is that you can't do what everybody else is doing and expect to get a different result. And so. You want to keep your mind open to what is counterintuitive, you know, and so thinking from that way.

Now, as I mentioned previously, today in my life, if I didn't know what was going on in the world, that would not feel safe because again, I work with people all over the world and that would not be helpful. So that would be like trying to navigate life with my eyes closed. Now, something that I would I would recommend is that if you are in a place where you are paying attention to what is going on in the world, and that is what is best for you at this point in life, then a couple of specific things I would remind yourself to do is this, is that if something does happen, I would remember.

To have absolute compassion and also to make sure to still give yourself permission to be happy in life. Because let's be honest, as human beings, when we see something that happens to others, we could go into fear or we could go into a place of feeling compassion and mourning. But that doesn't help everybody.

If we get stuck in fear and negativity, and this is how I look at it, is like this, is like the four minute mile is a great. example or analogy, if you will, is that, you know, throughout history, it was previously thought that it was impossible for human beings to be able to run a mile in under four minutes.

Now, it was in the 1950s that a man named Roger Bannister was able to run a mile in under four minutes. Now, after he did that, Multiple people continued to do that exact same thing, to run a mile in under four minutes. And now speeds are even faster and it has become a new norm. And so that is my point.

There was a shift in consciousness and it became a new norm. Now, point being from this is that the more that we can have a shift in consciousness in our world, the more we can create real change. And by the way, all of the time people will see my work and then. They start to learn that, Oh, we can release pain, our mind, we can heal our bodies and they see people healing and getting all kinds of results and it motivates them to follow through and do the same thing.

So it does take learning, you know, it does take understanding how to do it. I mean, because even if you think about it, let's be honest, just because we know that a mile can be ran in four minutes doesn't mean we could all do it right now without training. You know, I couldn't just go outside and run a mile in four minutes without any training.

Okay. So I would definitely need to train for that and really, really work up to it. So point being is I don't want to make it sound like, you know, once we know something is possible, it should just. Poof, happen like magic. There's an awareness, but there's also a learning how to do it and, and getting ourselves to do it.

So I don't want to make it sound like it's magic. We can all just wake up and go outside and run a mile, you know, all of a sudden in four minutes, that wouldn't be realistic, but could we physically do it? Could we train ourselves to do it? The potential for us to be able to do that is absolutely there.

And so my point. From all of this is that that shift in consciousness that Roger Bannister created helped other people to learn that they could do the same thing. And right now we need a shift in consciousness for our planet in understanding that we can heal ourselves and that our thoughts do help create our lives.

And so. If something negative happens and we all drop our energy into the negative, it doesn't help the global shift in consciousness. However, if something negative happens and we can have compassion and we can have understanding, but we can also allow ourselves to continue to lift ourselves, to continue to be happy, to heal, to have an incredible life, then we can still contribute to that global shift.

Because the way to contribute to the global shift It is to continue to shift your own energy, is to be the magic, is to create that change. Now by the way, as soon as I say that our thoughts help create our lives, even in traumatic situations, a lot of people won't like hearing that, but it's the reality.

You know, you'll hear me on past episodes say, you know, the woman with the abusive father leaves him and finds the abusive boyfriend, boss, spouse, et cetera, et cetera. That pattern continues. Now that's not just based on psychology or law of attraction, but we can also look at data analytics and census and statistics because even on a large scale, there was, uh, a study, a census done back in 2021, there was a large scale census.

Which showed that, from people who were the most abused as children, that suffered multiple types of abuse, pattern repeated in their life, and they were again abused as adults. Almost 80 percent of them, so technically it was 77%. And so my point is that's not just based on psychology or law of attraction, but that's government data and census.

And so we can see the information. In multiple ways. So my point being is that even people who have been through abuse, and let's be honest, I think we can all look at that situation and have so much compassion that a person can experience abuse as a child and then, you know, the most extreme types of abuse, and it can also repeat when they're an adult, you know, at almost 80 percent chance that it will repeat.

As an adult, that's a huge number, but if everybody starts to know that our thoughts and our emotions, our mindset helps create our lives and these patterns continue, then that is the solution is a global shift in consciousness because the more every single person knows and understands that our thoughts do help create our lives, then it empowers everybody no matter what they've been through to start creating that shift.

Now, part of the reason that I bring up this whole information about abuse is that if you are somebody who has been in that pattern, for example, then paying attention to the things that are going on in the world, if they're feeling traumatic, is just going to continue to trigger that wound. And so at this point, you would be somebody who would want to then avoid it until you were able to clean this wounding and really transform it.

And then you decide what you felt was healthy for you at that place, depending upon how you take in the information. So if you are somebody who, let's say you are in a great place in life, you are feeling good, you're already healed, you're feeling fantastic, you're just continuing to uplevel yourself and uplevel your life, and that's where you are, then it could be beneficial to pay attention to what.

is going on in life, as long as you're taking it in, in a positive way. And to do so, this is what I would say you'll want to do is to make sure that you come from a place of real absolute care and compassion, because some people, they might start to look at information like, Oh, well, that's just energy.

But you don't want to have that detachment from people. You want to actually really have. Self understanding, genuine compassion. That's one thing. Now the second is that you want to make sure that you're also allowing yourself and giving yourself permission to be happy, to be healthy, and to really still enjoy your life and feel that to still elevate your energy and continue to.

And that's what I would say. And another thing is, is to allow it to further motivate you. To clean up your patterns in life, because again, it is subconscious, and when we don't clean up old patterns, they can repeat themselves. And so, that can be a motivation as well. To further motivate you, to clean up your patterns in life, to live a happy life, to live life.

To its fullest, you know, everything is what it means to you. You know, for example, I went through my injury and for some people, the way they would feel going through it is they would feel defeated and that there's nothing that they can do. And by the way, I didn't feel that initially. And then I realized I had to change.

So what my injury now meant to me. Is to rise up, to figure it out, to heal myself and to live life to its fullest. It's time to enjoy every day of life and make the most of it. And so that is another way that you could take it in as well, is by having compassion for others and also taking a moment to have a deep appreciation for the freedoms that you do experience in life and your loved ones and making sure to connect with your loved ones and enjoy your loved ones.

And so maybe when something negative does happen in our world, you Come from that place of compassion and then you say, okay, have I spent time with my loved ones? Have I celebrated with them? Have I laughed with them? Have I enjoyed life with them? And you make it a reminder to make sure to do that.

Because if you're doing that, then you're taking the information in, in a healthy way. And so again, there are just so many layers of this, but our focus from today is really looking at Um, how do you take it in and still be able to heal or still be able to be in a place of health? And that's really where our focus is.

And so above all, because again, a lot of people are going to have a lot of different opinions on it. Above all, what I would encourage you to do is make sure to think about the data of it. Because a lot of times. People can have opinions that are opposite of what the data says. So if we just bring it back to simplicity, data, when it comes to health and healing, we'll say that if we are in negative states, anger, fear, frustration, stress, all of that, it can slow down cell proliferation.

It can slow down healing. It can increase aging because that does slow cell proliferation. I mean, so we can look at that. And we can see that, yes, that does impact our health, our healing, our biochemistry in a variety of ways. And so we know that. And we can also very simply see that positivity, that optimism, that feeling good, that love can support our healing.

And so if we just simplify it. that awareness, then I would say that making sure at the end of the day that you end up in a place of optimism and love and empowerment is the direction towards health and healing. And the more that we can all end up in a place of optimism and health and healing, the more it helps to shift.

Global consciousness. So the more it does create a bigger change in our world that's needed. Because a lot of times when we look at things that are happening in our world that are injustices, a lot of times there's not a simple answer. You can look at one thing and say, well, this side is right. And you can look at another side and you can say, well, this side is right because of this and it's not fair to the, like there's not a simple answer.

And that is because we need a shift. in consciousness. We need each person to feel empowered. That's the solution. And so if we can all work towards that direction, that's the real change. And so, uh, that's today's quick IQ episode. And I want to invite you to take in whatever piece applies to you. And I want to invite you to apply that to your life.
