People often overlook crucial insights that can be pivotal to their success in self-healing and life transformation. This isn't due to the difficulty of working with the mind, but rather the abundance of misconceptions. In today's episode, Brandy highlights two critical oversights that, when addressed, can lead to radical change. Most people are unknowingly overlooking these simple, yet profound insights.

Welcome to Heal Yourself, Change Your Life. My name is Brandy Gillmore, and after recovering from my own life-changing injury, it’s become my mission to share with others the same discoveries I made that changed my health and my entire life. Our minds are truly incredible — the placebo is proof of this.
Each week, I will take this simple awareness to a whole new level. I will even coach live callers to free themselves of physical pain using only their mind. Then, I’ll provide you with a combination of practical and spiritual insights that you can use to master your mind, your emotions, and your energy — to help you heal your health, yourself, and your life.
Let’s begin.
Hello, and welcome to this week’s Quick IQ Episode, where we talk about insights and questions. Today, I want to share a quick yet powerful insight about getting healing results — or creating radical changes in your life — that may seem very simple but is often completely overlooked.
It has to do with getting specific with your mind programming at a deeper level. A lot of times, people don’t gain the clarity they need to create the results they truly want.
When it comes to healing, I often talk about five core factors that are key to creating real transformation. Over the years, I’ve used these five factors to help people create radical shifts in their health and life. It’s incredible what happens when people align with them.
One of those factors is what I call positive expectation and optimism.
Now, a lot of times people say, “Oh, I’m already optimistic!” But let’s go deeper. Imagine there’s a woman who says she’s optimistic about finding love — but deep down, she also expects that relationships don’t last, or that men aren’t emotionally available, or that something will go wrong.
See the problem? Her optimism and her expectation are incongruent. She’s sending two opposite messages to her subconscious mind — hope and doubt at the same time.
This happens all the time. People may consciously say, “I’m optimistic,” but underneath, they expect things won’t work out, or that it’s too good to be true. That subtle misalignment blocks results — in healing, in relationships, in success, and more.
Even people who’ve studied self-help for years fall into this trap, thinking, “Oh, I already know that.” Yet beneath the surface, there’s still that tiny emotional thread of “it won’t work because…”. And that subtle thread makes a huge difference.
Another common misunderstanding I see all the time has to do with the word sensitive.
Technically, sensitivity means being acutely aware of subtle changes or emotions — either in yourself or others. But in our culture, people often use “sensitive” to describe being easily hurt or reactive. That’s not sensitivity — that’s wounding.
This distinction matters. Because I often meet people who, while on their healing or spiritual journey, begin to value sensitivity as a positive trait — and that’s true, but only when it’s understood correctly. When they confuse being “sensitive” with being “emotionally reactive,” their subconscious mind starts to believe that being more wounded is a good thing — and then holds onto that pain.
I’ve worked with many people who became more reactive over time because they thought being sensitive meant being deeply affected by every emotion. Their minds literally started programming wounding as wisdom. The result? More emotional pain, stress, and even illness.
It’s completely counterintuitive — but it happens all the time. And to show how powerful subconscious associations can be, I often use the example of a cutter. A person who cuts themselves can experience feelings of relief, control, or safety from the act — even though it makes no logical sense. But once that link is made in the brain, it becomes real to the subconscious.
In the same way, if the subconscious mind links “being hurt” to “being good” or “being sensitive,” it resists letting go of pain — because it believes that pain is serving a positive purpose.
Sensitivity is absolutely a superpower when it’s understood correctly. For me, that’s exactly how I work with people. I tune into their energy, feel what they’re feeling, and use that awareness to help them shift emotionally and physically — even to the point of releasing pain within minutes, sometimes under medical equipment.
That’s positive sensitivity — being acutely aware of emotional and energetic information without being reactive to it.
But if we confuse sensitivity with reactivity — if we equate “feeling deeply” with “feeling hurt” — then we reinforce pain instead of healing it. It’s the difference between perception and reaction.
When it comes to working with your mind and emotions, subtle differences make all the difference. The more finely tuned your emotional awareness, the more precise your healing can be.
I often compare it to music. A skilled musician knows the difference between a G sharp and a G flat. They may sound similar to an untrained ear, but to the musician, that subtle shift changes everything. It’s the same with emotions — subtle distinctions between patterns, expectations, and feelings determine whether you stay stuck or shift into transformation.
So here’s a powerful takeaway from today’s insight: take a moment to align your expectation and your optimism.
Don’t just be optimistic — make sure your subconscious also expects things to go well. When optimism and expectation work together, your energy, emotions, and actions align toward the result you want.
That’s today’s Quick IQ Episode. I want to invite you to tune into the subtle awarenesses in your emotions and patterns. These small, specific distinctions are the key to creating true, lasting transformation — not only in your healing but in every area of your life.
And as always, please take a moment to share this episode — with someone you love, someone you care about, or even someone you don’t know — because the more empowered every person becomes, the better our world is for all of us.
Make it a point to have a most wonderful, incredible rest of your day — and I look forward to connecting with you on the next episode.
