Welcome to Heal Yourself, Change Your Life. My name is Brandy Gillmore, and after recovering from my own life changing injury, it's become my mission to share with others the same discoveries I made. that changed my health and my entire life. Our minds are truly incredible. The placebo is proof of this.
Each week I will take this simple awareness to a whole new level. I will even coach live callers to free themselves of physical pain using only their mind. And then I'll provide you with a combination of practical and spiritual insights that you can use to master your mind and body. Your emotions and your energy to help you heal your health, yourself and your life.
Let's begin.
Hello and welcome to this week's quick IQ episode where we talk about insights and questions. And today I want to cover a question that I get all of the time that has to do with the topic of effort and avoiding effort or is there effort needed or people who are I've been told that everything should be effortless.
And I want to go ahead and unpack this even more to help set you up for success when it comes to healing and manifesting. Because all of the time I'll see people who are stuck with misconceptions all over the place. You know, misconceptions on how to program the mind or energy or how it works or how manifesting is or also the role of effort.
And, you know, in last week's IQ episode, we use the illustration of writer's block. You know, we talked about manifesting and if you missed that episode, I would definitely recommend going back to listen to that. episode about manifesting and opening your mind to the next level. So we talked about all of that last week.
Now, the thing that I really want to dial in has to do with, again, the role of effort, just because so many people are trying to tell you in marketing that everything should be effortless. And I want to put this in perspective because that's not entirely true. And there are places that things are Effortless, if you will.
And so to unpack this a bit more on today's quick IQ episode, the easiest way to really think about it is if you think about reading for a moment, you know, a lot of people, they'll read things on social media, they read texts, they read things all day long and it's effortless or writing a quick note is effortless, but when you stop and think about it for a moment, it wasn't always effortless.
You know, we all had to learn how to read. and write, and it took practice, it took follow through. And now that you have the skill, it's easy. I mean, you can drive down the street, and you read a stop sign, or you read a street sign, and you read whatever it is, and it can be effortless. Or reading through social media can be effortless, because you've got that skill down.
So you don't even think about how to do it anymore, or even tying your shoes, you know? You don't think how to do it, but when you first learn how to do it, you can do it. It took effort. And so, part of what I see happen a lot is people will come into the awareness of manifesting or healing and, you know, somebody told them it was just effortless and easy and all they have to do is just simply have gratitude every day and it's easy.
It's all gonna unfold. Or all they have to do is just meditate every day and that's it. Everything is just going to unfold effortlessly or to manifest what it is. They want, all they have to do is just visualize it every day and feel grateful for it. And boom, it's going to show up on their doorstep. Now that is not the truth, but a ton of marketing will tell you that it is, you know, and so I fell down that rabbit hole too.
And of course, if you think about it, you know, every volunteer that I've worked with on the volunteer episodes where I'm helping somebody to use their own mind to shift out of pain or illness or things like that, I know I make it look very easy. Like it's just effortless. But I always emphasize all the time that I make it look easy, but that's because I made some breakthrough discoveries on how to work with the mind and a deeper level of understanding.
So there's always more that I'm doing than meets the eye. And that's why I always say, you know, it does take follow through. It does take real change. It does take understanding the mind. And my main goal with the volunteer. episodes is of course to help people and of course because they always provide some amazing insight that you can use in your life and For everyone to be able to see that our mind really can make radical shifts And I know you know going through my own injury.
I remember literally I mean days that I had hope That I could get better. I could smile. I could, this, the whole day felt better. And days that I didn't have any hope that I was ever going to be able to find my way out of pain, and, and get my life back, and, and be healthy, and, and all of that. I mean, those days were very dark and very hard.
And so, also, you know, wanting to spread hope, wanting to spread optimism, wanting to spread empowerment, awareness, and so all of those things. And my point being is that I make it look so easy. But if you think about skills like reading and writing, you know, those were things that you learn how to do and you learn to get good at.
Then it became effortless, you know, and by the way, I do want to be clear that reading and writing is a good example But not a great example because there's also another element when we go to make change and so if I was going to talk about kind of the other part of Change that occurs is that there is also an internal effort And that's something that you'll want to be aware of also is that it does take follow through.
It does take real change and You'll want to put effort in this area of change and one example of this that's a well known example is if you think about somebody who is working on quitting alcohol, you know maybe they've been an alcoholic and they're really going to quit, you know, it does take internal effort to stop going into that old pattern to say no to the drink and to really make progress.
Now, this also is both a good and bad example. So it, the great thing is, is it illustrates that, Hey, there is some effort that you're going to need to make through to change, to really follow through and why it's also not the greatest. Most people who work on quitting drinking don't really make that change in their subconscious mind And that's why even with AA and things like that, unfortunately long term success levels aren't as high as would be great, you know, sometimes people could quit drinking for 10 years and then unfortunately go back and into the old pattern or different things like that just because if they pushed through and worked on it but they never really released and fully got rid of that underlying subconscious programming towards alcoholism then It can always get triggered and come back, which unfortunately happens for a lot of people.
And so there of course is, change is required and also releasing old patterns so people don't go back into them. So that is key as well. And not to add any complexity to this, but just to be transparent, the other thing is, is that when you do make a change. If you are getting your subconscious mind on board with that change, where you're really programming your subconscious mind, it of course makes it a lot easier to make that change successful and lasting.
And so that's also when you look at it, that's why quitting alcohol could be a great example. And also it's not perfect because a lot of people don't really know how to reprogram their subconscious mind. And so they're doing it a lot by grit and by effort and a lot of struggle. And you don't want to have all of that struggle, but.
Effort is needed as well. So chances are for a lot of people who listen to this episode, this will either be one of their favorite episodes, or it will be one of their least favorite episodes, and this is the reason why is because some people will hear this episode and the very thing they'll think is, Oh, effort, but everybody else says it's effortless.
A lot of people love hearing that. I mean, that's why. It's used in marketing all of the time. It's easy. It's effortless. All you have to do is just do nothing. Just have gratitude. It's super, super easy and you'll heal really easy and it's done. And that's of course why people use it in the marketing. And so there, there will be those people who hear this episode and they'll be like, man, this isn't great.
I don't want to hear about effort. And they won't like this episode. Now, there will be other people who will take this episode. And I hope this is you who will listen to this episode and will think to yourself. Okay. This is great awareness. Okay. Thanks for the nudge. Thanks for the insight. Thanks for the clarity, you know, and then you'll ask yourself, okay.
What area do I need to put some more effort towards? And as you ask yourself that question, you can make changes. that will help take your life and your health to the next level. And so, that's the question I want to invite you to ask yourself, is where do you need to make more effort? Maybe it's in learning how to better understand your mind, and how to get radical results, or maybe there's something that you know you need to be doing, and maybe you need to make a little bit more effort on really embodying that change, or Maybe you've been working on that change and you have old subconscious mind programming that's making it harder for you.
And you really need to release. Some things at a deeper level in your subconscious mind and maybe that's the part that needs some more effort And so that's really where I want to take you on this episode just because I know all too often people get stuck here in this place for years and years and years and I'm I know it was a stuck place for me and I just see it all of the time.
And so that said, with love, I just want to provide you that little bit of nudge and really looking at your life and how you can take it to the next level. So that said, please do make a point to share this love nudge with somebody, you know, hit the share button, share it with somebody you love, somebody you care about, or somebody you don't even know, you know, the more aware and empowered and capable and loving and healthy that everybody is in our world, the better and more amazing this world will be for all of us.
And so on that note, please do make it a wonderful day, have a wonderful, loving, fabulous day. And I look forward to connecting with you on the next episode. We'll be working with our volunteer, Kim, and he is just, he's incredible. By the way, if you missed the last. Volunteer episode where I was working with Kim who's been suffering from emphysema and just the epiphanies the Awarenesses that came from that also I strongly recommend checking it out if you happen to miss it just so many people messaging in saying how much it's touched their heart And so I love that and I look forward to connecting with you on the next episode But we'll take it to the next level.
