Welcome to Heal Yourself, Change Your Life
My name is Brandy Gillmore, and after recovering from my own life-changing injury, it's become my mission to share with others the same discoveries I made that changed my health and my entire life. Our minds are truly incredible. The placebo is proof of this.
Each week I will take this simple awareness to a whole new level. I will even coach live callers to free themselves of physical pain using only their mind. And then I'll provide you with a combination of practical and spiritual insights that you can use to master your mind and your energy to help you heal your health, yourself, and your life.
Let’s begin.
Hello and Welcome
Hello and welcome. It is so wonderful to connect with you. I just love that you are here continuing to expand your mind, your energy, your consciousness, your healing. I just love it. And I just love today's episode. Our volunteer, his name is John, and you're just absolutely going to love him. And also, the insights that come from today's episode are just really profound.
Insights About Mind and Body Healing
You know, one of the insights is this: when people work with the mind, many times they may have a tendency to reinforce the negative programming. And if so, it can be really hard to get the results that you really want. A simple way to think about it is like this: Imagine if somebody is working on cleaning their house and simultaneously making a mess at the exact same time. It can start to feel frustrated and really hard to get results.
And there are several other insights as well of just understanding mind-body healing at a deeper level. And that’s what I love. You know, you’ll hear me say over and over and over again that the more you really understand how the mind works, the easier it is to get results, just like a computer, if you will. You know, if you are new to a computer and you're trying to figure it out and you're trying to get it to do what you want it to do, but you don't really understand how it works, it can feel challenging to get results.
But the more you understand how it works and why it works the way it does, the easier it is to get it to work, to use the computer, so to speak, but also, you really work with your mind to get the results that you're wanting. And so that's another thing that I really love about this episode is just the level of clarity of understanding the mind-body connection.
Introducing the Volunteer
And so that’s where we're going as we step in with our beautiful volunteer, John, here we go.
John’s Challenge
Hello. Hello. Hi, John. It’s wonderful to connect with you.
You too. Thank you.
What can I help you with today?
Beautiful. Um, I’ve read your book a couple of times.
Um, and I've read loads of podcasts and books and all sorts, but for some reason, I feel drawn towards your approach.
Um, for the last couple of years, I've had really painful feet and tight feet.
Um, and I sort of know where it’s coming from, but don’t know how to go forward.
Um, I’ve also had an eye operation which isn't resolving as it should. And I think I know where that comes from subconsciously. But I need to know how to move forward with these things.
Assessing the Pain
Okay. So, gimme one second.
Uh, if I ask you your level of pain in your foot, in your calf, uh, what level would you say that is?
It’s in both feet.
Um, and it varies as the day goes by, and I’m quite aware that stress and anxiety makes it worse.
Um, on a scale of one to 10 of a nighttime, I’d put it down to two or three.
Um, when I’m out and about, you can reach a, a nine or a ten, and I, I know that’s anxiety that makes it worse.
Okay.
Current Pain Level
And, uh, if I ask you zero to 10, what level it is right now, what, what level would you give it?
Probably about six. They’re just numb. They’re just numb and painful on the top.
Recognizing Anxiety’s Role in Pain
Alright. So let’s go ahead and pause it just for a quick moment. You know, first and foremost, I love his awareness that he can see that the anxiety is actually affecting his pain level. So I love that awareness. Now, of course, it always goes much deeper, meaning that a lot of times people may look at anxiety or stress as a primary issue, but there’s always an underlying pattern or typically patterns that are connected to it.
So a lot of times the emotion itself, specifically with feelings of anxiety or fear, are really a reflection of something else. And I think a simple way to think about it is like this: if you think about a projector, a projector, like a TV projector, movie projector, it projects onto the wall. And so often people end up chasing the image that’s on the wall, but they don’t realize it’s actually coming from the projection, projector, so to speak, meaning that this emotion of anxiety really has other things going on at a deeper level and many times it can even be connected to patterns of guilt or punishment and whatnot.
Digging Deeper into John’s Emotional Roots
There’s really something going on at a deeper level that’s creating it and that’s connected to it. And so that’s where we’re going as we step back in with our beautiful volunteer, John, here we go.
Identifying the Pain Source
Okay. And that’s exactly what I would have said about a six, six, seven, some more in there. Uh, so give me one second.
First and foremost, I have to say, I love that you’re expanding your mind. I love that you’re working on yourself. It’s really brilliant and beautiful. And um, I love that. And uh, give me one second.
Exploring Emotional Connections
And so bingo, most of the pain is actually on top of your foot. Is that correct? On the top of your feet?
It is. It is. Yeah. I mean, I’ve had so many tests in the last three or four years, but medically they can’t sort of pinpoint it.
Yep. Okay. So, uh, bingo. That’s the, I was just looking at that specifically.
Opening Up About Guilt
So, um, so I’m going to ask you to breathe and if I ask you to notice the part of you who’s frequently feeling, um, diminished by others, um, zero to 10, how much can you find that feeling?
Where I feel diminished by others.
Yeah.
Um, yes, I can in a way. I understand that. Yeah. Probably a five or six out of ten.
Reflecting on Past Trauma
Yeah, it goes back to a lot of, I mean, I’m not an expert, but if you give me one minute, I’ll quickly explain some of the trauma that’s gone on.
I’m 66 now, up until I was 62, I never saw the inside of a doctor’s office.
Never been ill—no colds, no coughs—nothing at all. But at 62, all this pain started after I moved in with my new partner, who is younger than me. We now have a two-year-old child together.
That’s when all the pain started. I don’t know whether it’s the old trauma resurfacing or if these new events triggered it all.
Acknowledging the Role of Emotional Energy
I find it difficult to believe that I didn’t have any problems with my past trauma until now. My father committed suicide, he killed a couple of people, my son became addicted to heroin, and there was a divorce. Yet I never had a day of illness.
After moving in with my partner three years ago, I started having two eye operations, and now things aren’t resolving as they should.
Recognizing Patterns in Emotional and Physical Health
Let’s pause for a second. When we look at the connection between the emotional and physical, it’s clear that your past traumas could be showing up as pain in the body. The fact that you're experiencing this now speaks to how deeply your emotions are connected to your physical pain.
Digging Deeper Into Emotional Responses
So I want to ask you to breathe. When I mentioned the feeling of being diminished by others, how much does that really affect you in your day-to-day life?
I can definitely feel that. I have carried that for quite some time, especially with my son.
And that feeling of being diminished can show up in so many ways, often as physical pain. It’s one of the most common emotional patterns I see in people.
John’s Struggles with Emotional and Physical Pain
Okay, so, John, I want to ask you about your relationship with your son. When he went through his addiction, what kind of impact did that have on you emotionally?
It was devastating. I tried everything, but there were times when he blamed me for it.
For not being there, or for not being good enough.
Right, and that sense of guilt can really take hold, can’t it?
Yes, it definitely has. I still carry a lot of that guilt.
The Importance of Letting Go of Guilt
Now, here’s the thing: holding on to that guilt is like holding onto a heavy weight that’s keeping you from healing. The more you replay these events in your mind, the more your body will continue to manifest this pain. It’s not just about fixing the symptoms; it’s about releasing the emotional baggage.
The Role of Mindset in Healing
I want to help you shift your perspective. When we work with the mind, it’s crucial not to keep validating old negative emotions. When you keep replaying your past mistakes or holding onto guilt, it keeps your energy trapped in a cycle of pain.
I know it can be challenging, but the only way to truly break free from this is to let go of the justification and start to shift your thoughts. It’s not about excusing what happened, but about releasing its hold over you.
Working With the Mind and Body Connection
John, when you think about those past experiences with your son and all the trauma you’ve been through, what happens in your body?
I feel a tightening in my chest, a weight on my shoulders. It feels heavy.
Exactly. That’s a classic response. Your body is holding onto that emotional energy, and it’s manifesting as pain. It’s why so many people experience physical symptoms when they don’t process their emotions fully.
Shifting Emotional Patterns for Healing
I want to ask you to breathe deeply and start letting go of those old feelings. What would it feel like to stop holding on to the guilt, to forgive yourself?
I can feel it. It’s a release, even though it’s hard to fully let go.
That’s the first step—just recognizing the weight of it and being willing to release it. Letting go of guilt and resentment is crucial for your healing. The more you work on this, the more you will see that your pain is not just physical—it’s deeply connected to your emotions and thoughts.
The Resistance to Change
Now, as we continue, I want to bring up something important. There’s a part of you that might resist this change, even though you know it’s the right thing to do. It’s part of the pattern. People often resist letting go because they feel like they’re abandoning something important, like their past or their experiences.
But here’s the truth: letting go of these emotional patterns doesn’t mean you forget. It simply means that you’re choosing to move forward without carrying the burden.
Rewriting Your Story
So, let’s look at the story of your life. If you keep holding onto the past and justifying the pain, it keeps you stuck in that old story. You are not your past. You have the power to rewrite your story and choose how you respond to it moving forward.
John’s Healing Shift
Now, I’m going to ask you to breathe and consider how it would feel to stop diminishing yourself, to stop questioning if you’re good enough, or if you’ve done enough. What would it be like to truly embrace your worth without the need to hold onto the mistakes and guilt?
It would be freeing, honestly. It’s something I’ve struggled with for so long.
Releasing Age and Guilt as Limiting Beliefs
You know, there’s also this idea that age is limiting you, that somehow, being older means you can’t be as vibrant or active. But age is just a number. You can still be healthy and active, and the guilt around it is just a mental construct. Let’s shift this belief. You are capable of moving forward, regardless of your age. You can be the person you want to be, and this guilt doesn’t have to hold you back anymore.
Embracing Positive Change and Rewriting Beliefs
So, John, I want you to really think about this: what if you stopped seeing yourself as someone who’s aging or being held back? What if you saw yourself as someone who’s still vibrant, still strong, and still capable of making the most of life?
I can see that. It feels good to think that way.
Final Shift Toward Healing
Alright, let’s take a deep breath together. Now, as we move forward, think about how you want to feel in your body. Think about the future you want to create. You have the power to change your thoughts, release the guilt, and heal.

I really want you to continue working on releasing those old emotional blocks, and know that healing isn’t just physical—it's deeply connected to the emotional work you’re doing.
