Welcome to Heal Yourself, Change Your Life. My name is Brandy Gillmore. After recovering from my own life-changing injury, it has become my mission to share with others the same discoveries that transformed my health and my entire life. Our minds are truly incredible — and the placebo is proof of this.
Each week, I’ll take this simple awareness to a whole new level. I’ll even coach live callers to free themselves of physical pain using only their mind. Then I’ll share a combination of practical and spiritual insights you can use to master your mind, emotions, and energy — to help you heal your health, yourself, and your life.
Let’s begin.
Hello and welcome! It is so wonderful to connect with you. I just love that you are here — continuing to expand your mind, your consciousness, your energy, and your heart. I truly love it.
Welcome to this week’s Quick IQ episode, where we talk about insights and questions. Today, I have a really great question from a listener that came in via email — and I’m so excited to share it because it touches on several interesting layers of healing and awareness.
Listener Question: Are Past Lives Important for Healing?
Here’s the question she sent in:
“Hi Brandy, I would like to submit a question for the IQ episodes on your podcast. I don’t know if this is a good question since it’s about past lives, and I’ve never heard you talk about them before. But I’ve never seen anything like your work or the results you get with people, and I always learn so much from each episode. So I figured I’d just reach out and ask. If it’s not a good question, that’s okay — but I’m wondering if you feel past lives are important for healing. Thank you.”
First, I love this question — because it brings up a topic that many people wonder about but few discuss openly. And there are a few important things to consider here.
Why I Don’t Usually Talk About Past Lives
There are two main reasons I don’t often speak about past lives. The first is that I like to keep everything I share grounded and universal — accessible to everyone, regardless of belief systems. I want anyone to be able to apply these insights to healing and see real results, without it feeling abstract or mystical.
For example, if you’ve listened to past episodes where I work with volunteers, you’ve heard me talk about energy awareness — how emotions, thoughts, and energetic patterns can affect the body. And even though this might sound “spiritual,” I always like to connect it to scientific research so you can see that these abilities and principles are actually documented and real.
Science and Energy Awareness
In fact, research from Stanford University and even the CIA has shown clear evidence of human intuitive abilities — such as remote viewing and mind-based perception. People truly do have these capacities; they’ve been scientifically studied and confirmed.
So when I talk about things like tuning into someone’s energy or identifying emotional blocks, I like to point to this kind of research — to keep it logical and understandable for the analytical mind.
And by the way, if you haven’t seen that research, I’ll have my team link it in the show notes so you can explore it yourself. You’ll also find a link to the thermal medical imaging equipment we use during volunteer sessions — where you can literally see physical changes in the body happening in real time as emotions shift. It’s remarkable!
Now, this brings me to the second reason I don’t focus on past lives: they’re not necessary for healing.
Why Past Lives Aren’t Required for Transformation
While I do see energetic information from past lives in my work, it’s not something I typically emphasize — because we don’t actually need to access it to heal. All of that energy or information from previous experiences ultimately shows up in the mind and energy field in this lifetime.
That means you can address and transform everything you need to — right here, right now — through your emotions, mindset, and energy in this present life.
Now, that said, there are times when awareness of past life energy can be helpful. But most people who start diving deeply into it end up making their healing journey more complicated — and sometimes even slower — because they get caught up in stories rather than shifting the energy pattern itself. I’ll explain more about that in a moment.
For now, let’s first talk about why I like to keep my message universal. When I began my own journey, I was raised Lutheran. Most of my family is Catholic or Christian, so the idea of past lives wasn’t something I grew up with. Later in life, I worked in network engineering and operations — very analytical fields — and at that time I was actually quite skeptical, even borderline agnostic.
So, if you’re someone for whom the concept of past lives feels “too far out,” I completely understand. And if you’re someone who’s studied them for years, I get that too. My goal is to offer a message that anyone — from any background — can use to create real, practical healing results.
How Past Life Patterns Show Up in This Lifetime
Here’s what’s fascinating: even if you believe in past lives, the emotional patterns from those experiences are always reflected in your subconscious mind today. The patterns repeat through similar circumstances until they’re healed.
That’s why, when I work with people, we often see that many of their patterns — whether of hurt, rejection, or fear — began in childhood. But those same patterns may have been repeating for lifetimes before this one. When they’re not resolved, they reappear as similar emotional experiences again and again.
For example, I’ve seen cases where someone carried deep trauma energy from a past experience of war. In this life, that same energetic vibration might manifest as an extreme fear response to certain events — even something like a school environment triggering stress or panic. The emotional frequency continues until it’s consciously transformed.
To be clear, I’m not saying those tragic experiences are ever okay — of course not. But energetically, it’s the repeating emotional vibration that matters. Healing means shifting that energy in the now so it no longer defines your experience or your body.
When you heal the pattern in this lifetime, you stop carrying that vibration forward — and that’s true healing at the energetic level.
Healing Emotional Patterns in the Present Moment
When you begin to look at your life from this perspective, it becomes incredibly empowering. You realize that healing doesn’t require you to go back into every past life — or even every past memory. All you need to do is identify and shift the emotional pattern that is active right now in your mind and energy.
That’s why I emphasize emotional awareness so much. Because no matter where a pattern began — in childhood or a thousand years ago — if it’s showing up in your emotions today, that’s where you can transform it.
And when you truly release it from the mind and body in the now, it no longer continues. You free yourself completely from that energy moving forward.
Why Childhood Patterns Often Mirror Past Life Energy
This is also why so many of the patterns people experience seem to start in childhood. It’s not that your childhood “caused” everything — it’s that your early experiences resonate with pre-existing energetic patterns that were already in motion. The mind simply recreates situations that match that vibration, offering an opportunity to transform it once and for all.
That’s what I mean when I say the subconscious is like a mirror of your soul’s energy — everything unresolved finds a way to show up again, so you can finally shift it.
Example: The “Damsel in Distress” Pattern
Let me give you a simple — yet very real — example. Imagine a woman who, lifetime after lifetime, has felt like she needs a man to rescue her. In each life, that same “damsel in distress” pattern plays out over and over again.
Now, in this lifetime, she may not consciously remember any of that — but she might grow up watching movies or fairy tales that reinforce that same feeling. For instance, she could feel emotionally drawn to stories like Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty — not realizing that they resonate so strongly because they match her subconscious pattern.
These emotional “addictions” to certain stories, shows, or relationships are simply reflections of what’s still active within the subconscious mind. The pattern keeps replaying in new forms until it’s consciously shifted.
Interestingly, this also applies to fear-based patterns. People who carry unresolved trauma or anxiety sometimes find themselves drawn to horror movies or stressful situations — not because they enjoy the fear, but because the vibration feels familiar. It’s the energy their mind is used to experiencing. Again, not everyone reacts this way, but when it happens, it’s an important clue about what’s still stored in the subconscious.
Focusing on the Pattern, Not the Past Life
So this is why I always emphasize: you don’t need to uncover or relive every past life story. In fact, doing that often makes things worse. What matters is releasing the emotion itself.
When you shift the emotion — whether it’s fear, guilt, hurt, or rejection — you change the energetic pattern at its root. That’s what changes your health, your relationships, and your experience of life.
That’s why all of the volunteers you hear on this podcast are able to achieve profound results without ever talking about past lives. They’re working directly with the energy of the present — and that’s where transformation happens.
When Awareness of Past Lives Can Help
Now, there are times when awareness of past lives can be helpful — but only when used in an empowering way. One of the most common ways this helps is when someone is struggling with unresolved feelings toward their parents or their childhood.
For example, let’s say someone feels abandoned by a parent, or perhaps they’ve experienced criticism, neglect, or hurt growing up. These experiences can create deep emotional wounds that carry through adulthood — but if that person begins to understand that this same pattern has likely been repeating for many lifetimes, something beautiful happens.
Instead of taking it personally — thinking “My parent didn’t love me” or “Something must be wrong with me” — they start to see it as a pattern ready to be healed. It stops being about blame and becomes about empowerment.
From that place, they can say to themselves, “Wait — I don’t need to carry this anymore. I’ve been repeating this long enough. I can change this pattern now.”
That shift in perspective instantly begins to dissolve resentment and open the heart. And that’s where real healing begins — when you let go of judgment and move into compassion and empowerment.
Letting Go of Blame and Taking Back Your Power
So, if you’ve been holding frustration or anger toward your parents — or anyone, really — I want to lovingly invite you to reframe it. Instead of thinking, “They did this to me,” recognize that this may simply be a pattern that’s been playing out across time. You now have the opportunity to stop it and create something entirely new.
When you see it this way, it’s no longer about who was “right” or “wrong.” It’s about remembering that you have the power to change your emotions, your energy, and your future.
And from that place of empowerment, forgiveness becomes natural. You’re not excusing the past — you’re simply releasing yourself from it. That’s the freedom that allows healing to truly happen.
The Pitfalls of Focusing Too Much on Past Life Stories
Now, while a general awareness of past lives can sometimes help bring compassion and perspective, I’ve also seen many people get stuck when they dive too deeply into them. They start reliving story after story, bringing in memories of tragedy, betrayal, and pain from other times. And instead of healing, it actually adds more emotional weight to the subconscious.
Remember — even if you think you’re just “observing” those stories and they don’t bother you, they still affect your energy. Every memory, whether real or imagined, activates a corresponding vibration in your mind and body. So when you fill your awareness with painful or traumatic imagery, that energy becomes active again — and that can actually slow your healing.
Why Releasing, Not Reliving, Is the Key
When I work with people, my goal is to help them release old emotions completely — to the point where their mind doesn’t even attach to the old memory anymore. It’s like trying to remember what you wore on an ordinary day in eighth grade — you simply don’t recall, because it no longer carries emotional charge. That’s what true emotional release feels like.
So if someone starts revisiting painful past life memories over and over again, they’re doing the opposite of release — they’re reactivating those old emotional programs. And that keeps those frequencies alive in the subconscious mind, which isn’t beneficial for healing.
Of course, if you’re told about positive past life experiences — stories of joy, wisdom, or success — and that lifts your energy, that’s wonderful! Those can be empowering. But if the memories are negative or heavy, you want to let them go completely. What truly matters is the vibration you hold in your mind and emotions right now.
Turning Awareness Into Empowerment
So, to bring this full circle — this is why I don’t focus on past lives in my work. It’s not because they don’t exist or because the concept isn’t real; it’s because you don’t need to go into them to heal. Everything you need to transform is already present in your emotions and thoughts today.
If this topic feels too abstract or complex for you, that’s perfectly fine. You won’t miss anything by setting it aside. But if you can take it in and use it as a way to feel more empowered, less angry, or more compassionate toward yourself or others, then it can absolutely support your healing journey.
Maybe it helps you release resentment toward your parents. Maybe it reminds you that patterns aren’t personal — they’re energetic. And maybe it helps you realize that you truly are the one with the power to change those patterns once and for all.
Recognizing the Power of Patterns
Even modern psychology recognizes this. You may have heard the classic example of a woman who grows up with an abusive father, leaves home, and then repeatedly attracts partners or bosses with the same type of abusive energy. The faces change, but the emotional pattern stays the same — until it’s healed.
That’s exactly how energy works across lifetimes as well. The same patterns simply show up in different forms until you consciously shift them. And once you do, your entire vibration changes — which means your experiences, relationships, and health begin to change too.
So instead of feeling frustrated or defeated by a repeating challenge, feel empowered. Remind yourself: “This is just a pattern — and I have the power to change it.” Because you do. You are amazing, and your mind and energy are capable of far more than most people realize.
Your Vibrational Match and Soul Perspective
Let’s take that understanding even one step further. You know how, when you tune into a certain radio station — say, a country station — you hear country music? And when you switch to a rock station, you hear rock? It’s the same with your energetic frequency.
When you come into this life, you arrive on a vibrational “station” that matches your soul’s patterns and lessons. That’s why the parents and circumstances you were born into perfectly reflect your starting vibration. If you came in carrying certain patterns from before, you naturally aligned with a family dynamic that would allow those patterns to continue — until you were ready to change them.
But here’s the beautiful part: once you begin transforming those energies, your entire frequency changes. And that’s when you start experiencing more love, more health, more flow — and a whole new reality begins to unfold.
Final Thoughts and Empowering Takeaways
So, the most important message from today’s episode is this: You are the power. No matter what you’ve experienced — in this life or any other — you have the ability to transform your emotions, your energy, and your destiny.
Healing isn’t about revisiting old stories; it’s about creating new energy right now. It’s about choosing love, joy, forgiveness, and empowerment in this very moment — because those are the vibrations that build a healthy body and a fulfilling life.
