Welcome to Heal Yourself, Change Your Life. My name is Brandy Gillmore, and after recovering from my own life-changing injury, it’s become my mission to share with others the same discoveries I made that changed my health and my entire life. Our minds are truly incredible — the placebo is proof of this.
Each week, I will take this simple awareness to a whole new level. I will even coach live callers to free themselves of physical pain using only their mind. Then I’ll provide you with a combination of practical and spiritual insights that you can use to master your mind, your emotions, and your energy to help you heal your health, yourself, and your life.
Let’s begin.
What People Overlook About Healing
Hello, and welcome to this week’s quick IQ episode, where we talk about insights and questions. Today, I want to highlight something that many people overlook when it comes to healing — and why so many stay stuck.
In our last episode, you may remember I worked with a beautiful volunteer named Joy. She was able to release her back pain — which had been at a level five or six — to zero within just a few minutes, using only her mind. I know that sounds impossible to many people, but the mind is powerful beyond what we realize.
I often use this analogy: a person with multiple personality disorder can have different illnesses in different personalities. As they shift their mindset, things like blood pressure, body temperature, and even eyesight can change — sometimes instantly. That’s the power of the mind-body connection.
Why Many People Don’t Get Results (Even After Years of Practice)
Now, if you listened to that episode, you’ll recall that Joy had been working with her mind for more than twelve years — doing affirmations and spiritual work — but hadn’t gotten the results she wanted. And she’s not alone.
Think about Wayne Dyer and Steve Jobs, both brilliant and spiritually aware beings. Wayne Dyer meditated for years, yet meditation alone didn’t prevent or heal his cancer. Steve Jobs practiced meditation from his teenage years, went to India, followed many different diets, and even explored alternative medicine, yet he also passed from illness.
Again — no criticism or judgment at all. Both were amazing men who changed the world. But the lesson here is simple: meditation alone isn’t enough to heal the body. It’s a powerful tool, but it’s not the entire equation.
The Meditation Lottery
When I was healing from my injury, I fell into what I call the “meditation lottery.” I would meditate, visualize, use affirmations, binaural beats, frequencies, special diets, supplements — everything. I loved meditating! I could feel euphoric and expanded… but the truth was, I wasn’t healing.
I kept hoping that if I just meditated enough, one day I’d wake up healed — like I’d win the meditation lottery. But that day never came. It wasn’t until I got radically honest with myself and started looking at the actual data — what was and wasn’t working — that things began to change.
Meditation and affirmations can be beautiful, but they don’t automatically change the emotional pictures in your subconscious mind. Healing requires deep emotional reprogramming — at the level where those hidden patterns live.
Why Emotional Awareness Is the Missing Piece
Let’s revisit Joy’s story. She had been doing affirmations for years — “I love people,” “I’m open,” and so on — yet deep down, she had an emotional association that people weren’t safe. It’s like saying, “Dogs are safe,” while picturing a vicious dog. Your subconscious reacts to the emotion behind the image, not the words.
That’s why we must go deeper than affirmations or meditations. Healing happens when we genuinely shift the emotional pictures within our subconscious — when we rewire the emotional responses themselves.
Expanding Consciousness Means Looking Within
Many people think expanding consciousness means seeing more energy or accessing higher states — and that’s part of it. But another aspect is becoming more consciously aware of what we’re really feeling inside.
When you start to change patterns — like criticism, fear, or guilt — you might suddenly notice those patterns everywhere. That’s progress! You’re bringing subconscious habits into conscious awareness, which is the first step toward truly changing them.
Mastery Comes Through Distinctions
Just like starting a new job — at first you know the basics, but over time you learn distinctions that make you better and better. Healing works the same way. The more distinctions you make — the more clearly you can see what’s really going on emotionally — the faster and more lasting your results become.
For years, I was stuck in that same loop — doing “all the right things” and waiting for the breakthrough. But real results come from awareness, precision, and depth of emotional change. And I’ve seen this again and again with clients: once they recognize the deeper pattern and make that genuine emotional shift, their results can be profound and fast.
Resources to Help You Go Deeper
If you’d like to understand this at a deeper level, I have two great resources available right now:
- I recently did an interview on Gaia — think of it as the Netflix for spirituality and personal growth — where I explain these concepts in depth. People have said they took notes the entire time!
- I also offer a free masterclass on the science behind healing and how to use your mind to create real, lasting change. It’s a great next step if you’re serious about getting results.
And in the next episode, we’ll continue working with Joy, going even deeper into transformation now that she’s already released her pain. So stay tuned — it’s going to be powerful.
Final Thoughts
As we wrap up today, I want to remind you: don’t get stuck in waiting for healing to happen. Healing isn’t random. It’s created through conscious, emotional, and energetic change.
Be curious, be honest with yourself, and keep learning from the data of your life. Every distinction you make brings you one step closer to health, happiness, and freedom.
And please — take a moment to share this episode with someone you love, someone who’s struggling, or even someone you don’t know. Because the more people who are happy, healthy, empowered, and loved, the better this world becomes for all of us.
Wishing you a most wonderful, incredible rest of your day. I look forward to connecting with you on the next episode. We’ll see you there!
