Welcome to Heal Yourself, Change Your Life. My name is Brandy Gillmore, and after recovering from my own life-changing injury, it’s become my mission to share with others the same discoveries I made that changed my health and my entire life. Our minds are truly incredible—the placebo is proof of this.
Each week, I will take this simple awareness to a whole new level. I’ll even coach live callers to free themselves of physical pain using only their mind, and then I’ll provide you with a combination of practical and spiritual insights that you can use to master your mind, your emotions, and your energy to help you heal your health, yourself, and your life.
Let’s begin.
Hello and happy, beautiful day to you. Today I want to share with you one of the most pivotal breakthroughs that I had during my own healing journey—one that really changed everything for me. Ultimately, it led to a cascade of insights and awarenesses that were truly pivotal. They changed my entire life, and of course, they helped me heal myself.
From Magical Thinking to Logical Thinking
The insight is this: I went from a place of working on healing myself—waiting for my body to heal itself—in a state of magical thinking, just waiting for the magic to happen… to a place of logical thinking. When I started to really understand everything logically, it was profound.
Now, don’t get me wrong—I love the magic of life. When you stop and think about it, our world is absolutely amazing. We’re literally on the side of a planet, yet it feels like we’re standing and walking around and driving our cars on flat ground. So yes, life is an incredible, magical experience.
Yet, there are also rules of the universe—a logic to it—that is pivotal. And so, that pivot for me, going from magical thinking (the meditating, the positive thinking) to bringing in the logic… it was like one epiphany after another. I began to understand how to work with my mind, what I needed to do, and I kept getting more and more clarity.
Medical Research that Changed My Perspective
When I started looking into the medical journals, one thing you’ve probably heard me mention before—if you’ve been following my work—is how pivotal the research on Multiple Personality Disorder (now called Dissociative Identity Disorder) was for me.
Seeing the documented reality that people with this condition could have different illnesses in different personalities was profound. It showed me that:
- Results could happen faster than we might think.
- People with “incurable” illnesses could switch to a personality without the illness.
- The same illness stayed with the same mindset—whenever a person switched back to that personality, the illness reappeared.
This was medically documented—meaning it wasn’t faked. There were measurable, physiological changes depending on which personality was “in control.” That was profound for me.
A Lesson from a Butterfly
Beyond the research, I also began looking at the mind in a logical way—how to work with it. Recently, I had a simple but powerful reminder of this when I was sitting at a car wash. I saw a butterfly trapped under an awning. It kept trying to fly straight up, hitting its head over and over against an invisible barrier.
I wanted to help it so badly, but I couldn’t reach it—it was too high. Every time it hit the barrier, it would rest for a bit on a beam, then try the same thing again. Over and over. It reminded me of how so many people live: they’re frustrated, wanting change—healing, relationships, success—but they keep hitting the same invisible ceiling.
What the butterfly needed to do was simple: pause, then try a different way. But instead, it just repeated the same pattern, hoping for a different result.
So often, people do that very thing. They calm down for a moment, and then go right back to the same pattern—over and over again—hoping for a different outcome.
Stop Accepting Patterns—Rewire the Mind
If the butterfly could just relax, then do things in a different way, everything would change. That’s the key for us, too. When we’re stuck—wanting to heal, wanting the relationship, wanting success—but there’s an invisible ceiling, we have to be willing to look at our own programming and change it.
What I often see is people who, instead of truly changing the pattern, wind up “accepting” it. They’ll say, “I’m just going to welcome and accept this same emotion.” But think about it logically: if we welcome and accept something into our minds and never change it, it stays there. Just like learning the alphabet or numbers—if we accept them as-is, that’s what we continue to operate with.
And we know this—from psychology, from life experience, or even if you prefer the term law of attraction—patterns breed more of the same. That’s repetition compulsion, reenactment, attachment dynamics—whatever label you want. It’s the same outcome: the pattern repeats, often without us realizing it.
The trap of soothing without changing
Sometimes people learn to relax the nervous system (which is important!), but they never actually change the pattern. So even if they get out of one situation, they end up in another… and another… and another. Why? Because the underlying wiring never changed.
We need both: yes, calm the mind and emotions, and also rewire at a deeper level.
The alphabet analogy
Imagine your subconscious like the alphabet you learned: if you keep the same sequence, you’ll form the same words. But if you truly change the alphabet—your internal sequence—everything you build from it changes: your actions, your outlook, and even the patterns you attract.
The Butterfly, Revisited: How to Get Unstuck
If you’ve been stuck in any area of your life, don’t give up. Don’t let exhaustion or “it’s impossible” take over. Take a breath. Step back. First, calm your emotions. Then rewire your mind to look at things in a different way—just like helping that butterfly see a new opening.
When we change our mindset, answers reveal themselves. There’s always a way. And as we change our mindset, we attract new patterns. That’s profound.
What I often see is people hitting that invisible ceiling, then “accepting” and soothing the same emotions. It seems to help… until the same issue shows up again somewhere else. Or they surrender, feel defeated, and stop trying.
What actually works
- Don’t give up. Keep your heart open to change.
- Be willing to see things differently. Get outside the old box.
- Reprogram your mindset. Not just calming—changing the wiring.
The more you truly change on the inside, the more you realize how incredible you are—and how incredible life is. Anything someone else has done—healing, transforming relationships, living with confidence and joy—is possible for you. But like that butterfly, if you keep hitting the same invisible ceiling, it’s time to reprogram at a deeper level.
Don’t Give Up—Change from the Inside Out
Food for thought: when you start looking at everything in a logical way—not losing the magic, but adding the logic—you begin to see how everything is possible. Calm, then rewire. So simple. So profound.
And that’s today’s quick IQ episode. As always, I want to ask you to please take a quick moment to hit the share button on this episode—share it with someone you love, someone you care about, or someone you don’t even know. The more that every single person is empowered, loved, and feeling free to grow and expand in this life, the better this world is for all of us. So please do make a point to share this episode.
And please also make a point to have the most wonderful, loving, expansive, incredible rest of your day. I look forward to connecting with you on the next episode. We’ll see you there.
Outro and Important Notes
Thank you for listening to Heal Yourself, Change Your Life. People write in all the time saying how much these episodes have given them hope, touched their heart, helped them stay positive in hard times, or even woken them up to a new level of awareness of how amazing we all really are.
If today’s episode touched your heart or expanded your mind in any way, please share it with those you care about—or those you know who really need it. As more people become empowered, it truly changes our world for the better. That’s the point and the power of these demonstrations: to create a radical shift in our world consciousness by showing everyone what we’re all capable of.
Each volunteer will need to follow through to reinforce their programming to maintain results, but the point is for you to see that you really can create rapid results in your health and your life—if you really understand how to use your mind. You are incredible.
I do want to be clear: most people won’t get results this fast on their own. I make it look easy because of the discoveries I made. Remember, there’s so much going on in our minds at a deeper level than most people realize. That said, if you want to send me any questions or comments, come visit me on my website at BrandyGillmore.com/podcast.
If you’re currently experiencing physical pain and would like to be a volunteer on the show, you can sign up there as well.
Lastly, please remember: if you have any health issues, don’t avoid your doctors. Continue seeing them and make it your goal to blow their minds with what you’re capable of—with your mind.
Thank you.
