Welcome to Heal Yourself, Change Your Life. My name is Brandy Gillmore, and after recovering from my own life-changing injury, it’s become my mission to share with others the same discoveries I made that changed my health and my entire life. Our minds are truly incredible. The placebo is proof of this.
Each week I will take this simple awareness to a whole new level. I’ll even coach live callers to free themselves of physical pain using only their mind, and then I’ll provide you with a combination of practical and spiritual insights that you can use to master your mind, your emotions, and your energy to help you heal your health, yourself, and your life.
Let’s begin.
Hello and happy beautiful day to you. On last week’s episode, we were talking about the importance of stepping into your strength for healing. That, you know, when we step into strength or confidence or courage—but when we really have this normal state of confidence, like a regular, like confidence is just a regular part of your energy and your being—that in and of itself can make you feel safer in life, which can of course help decrease feelings of fear. And so that’s part of what we were talking about is exactly that.
Now, I want to build on this because so often I’ll see people end up accidentally doing the opposite with their minds and keeping themselves stuck. And I see this more and more and more often. And so I wanna share with you what you want to avoid as well. And that’s what we’re gonna talk about today.
Now, a simple way to think about this is we can retrain our nervous system and our emotions in all kinds of ways. And, and, uh, if we give a visual example, think about for a moment, catching a ball. You know, if you go, if somebody throws a ball at you, you may catch it. Or if somebody throws a ball at you, you may duck. Or if you think about a young baby, you throw a ball towards a baby, they’re probably not gonna do anything. They haven’t built in any reflexes. So just don’t throw a ball at a baby. But anyways, um, so point being though is that we have different programmed responses, right?
And what can happen, and I see people all of the time do things like this. Let’s say they’re trying to work on quieting their mind, and so they might do something where they bring up some type of thought in their mind, and then they just let it go, and they bring up a thought in their mind and they let it go. And basically what they start doing is they start programming themselves to try to feel better about things. So a lot of times that’s the intention is to feel better or to feel more relaxed about things.
But the problem is, is that so often people end up getting themselves programmed into becoming inactive. So maybe they bring up such and such stress and they get themselves to calm down and, and, and whatnot. So as things come into their mind, they’re literally training themselves to be inactive. And then what happens—and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen this—is that then I’ve had people literally say things like, “I just can’t get myself to follow through,” or “I can’t take action.” Or people will say, “Oh, well I just feel like I’m just lazy,” or “All I wanna do is meditate,” or “I, I, you know, I know what I’m supposed to do, I’m just not following through.” And so often more and more and more I hear people saying these exact things.
And I’ve even seen people—several people—who have literally lost their jobs, uh, you know, where they’ve said, “Look, I just can’t get myself to follow through to do things.” Or they’re not showing up and so they’re underperforming or whatnot, but they’re not really showing up. And so, of course, we don’t wanna program ourselves for a bunch of stress, but we also don’t wanna program ourselves for being inactive either.
You know, going back to the analogy of the ball—imagine if somebody throws a ball towards you and you scream and stress out. I mean, you don’t want that response either. But you also don’t wanna have somebody throw a ball towards you and just be inactive. Instead, you’d want to confidently catch it or address it. And so when things come up in our lives, you know, there, there’s a certain level of follow through, of action that we need to take.
And of course, we don’t wanna take a bunch of stressed out, angry, upset, you know, anxiety, overwhelm action. That’s not the goal. But simultaneously, the goal isn’t also to just train ourselves to relax and just do nothing either. And I mean, I’ve even heard so many people say—you know, they’ll tell themselves—and I’ve heard people say this, maybe you’ve heard it too, where people will say, “We’re human beings, we’re not human doings.”
Like there’s a saying, and then people won’t realize because they think, you know, maybe it’s a fun saying—they don’t realize it’s affecting themselves. And I’ve worked with people who literally said, “I just can’t get myself to follow through. My spouse is upset with me, my blah, blah, blah…” Like they’re just, they’re stuck. And that saying will come up that they’re human beings, not doings, and so they end up with so much resistance towards doing that at a subconscious level, they’ve programmed themselves to be inactive.
And so taking action—and, and when I say inactive, it doesn’t mean they don’t do anything. You know, a lot of times it’s, they’ll put it as decreased action where, you know, it feels harder to get themselves to follow through, or they don’t wanna follow through or they don’t feel like they… it’s resistance to following through.
But if we have a flow state with life where we can want something and we can get ourselves to follow through in a fun way, that’s ultimately how we wanna feel—in aligned with life and aligned with what we want.
A simple way to think about it is like this: if you tell children that they’re gonna go to Disneyland or wherever they’re excited about going, notice what happens. They suddenly feel energized. They’re looking forward to going. They’re excited, right? But if you tell them to clean their room, a lot of them might feel like a… uh… their energy drain.
Now let’s be honest, there are some people who think about work and they’re excited about it. They wanna do it. They follow through. And that’s been me. I’ve always—that’s even prior to doing this—you know, even when I worked in network engineering, operations, all of that, I, I loved to work. Always. I’ve been good at it. I love what I did. I love the contributing part, the collaboration part, connecting with people and getting things done, and just like… I’ve loved it. Okay?
But some people, you mention work and you think you might as well have mentioned something horrible. They’re like—there’s so much resistance.
So my point is, is that when we take action from that place of, “Oh, I hate this,” or “I hate work,” that’s not the ultimate way we wanna feel. We’d wanna program ourselves to feel alive with things, good about things. You know, just like children wanting to go to Disneyland, they feel alive and good. And so we can feel alive in life—to work out, to enjoy, to work, to play, to have fun, to… you know, to do anything.
And so that’s what I wanna emphasize to you is exactly that—is that so often I’ll see people who have been on the spiritual journey for many years and in one way or another, through either trying to quiet their mind or some type of mind programming or sayings like, “We’re human beings, not human doings” or whatnot, or, you know, cute little sayings or whatnot, that they get programmed into their mind… they have a—they find themselves having a harder time following through with things.
And ultimately what we want is we wanna feel in love with life, aligned with the things that we’re wanting, getting ourselves to follow through, to take action from a blissful place of being. You know, if you think about a tree, it grows beautifully—you know, flourishing plant. And so ultimately we want to grow and flourish and enjoy life to its fullest.
And so that’s the insight that I wanted to share with you just because what can also happen is—of course, I’ve seen this so often—where somebody’s trying to heal themselves and then they start getting into like programming themselves for less activity, you know, so inactivity, less and less and less. And then what can happen is then they start feeling more financial fear or a relationship disconnect or hurt in whatnot—some area.
And then what I’ve seen people do, of course, as the growing fear or the concern, the financial, whatever it is—as the growing fear continues to increase, a lot of times what I see people do is, you know, they get better at suppressing the emotion, trying to just stuff it down and/or do affirmations on top of it. But it’s just suppressing the emotion instead of really transforming the emotion.
So when we are in these states of strength and empowerment and we feel alive, and we feel blissful, and we feel confident—that’s when we feel like also when we’re programmed to take care of what needs to be taken care of and have fun and enjoy and flourish—that’s moving in the direction towards healing.
And so, again, I just wanted to mention this because I am actually seeing more and more and more people programming themselves for inactivity and then get stuck. And I—it just has—I’ve seen it increase over the years, and it just seems like it’s increasing more and more and more rapidly.
And so, just food for thought and a bit of a reminder of that. When you work with your mind, you’ll really want to be specific and understand it and, uh, and—and think things through so you know what you are doing and you feel empowered and you understand your own mind. So, food for thought.
And on that note I wanna ask you, please do share this with somebody you love. You know, um, share it with somebody you love. Hit the share button. Share it with somebody you care about, somebody you don’t even know. Because the more that every single person feels healthy and happy and loved and loving, the better this world is for all of us. And so please do hit the share button.
Also, if you are somebody who’s really wanting to understand healing at a deeper level, um, I do have a free training and the link is in the chart notes or the, uh, the, uh, show notes so you can check that out, um, if you’d like that.
And on that note, I wish you a happy, healthy, wonderful, empowered rest of your day and I look forward to connecting with you on the next episode. We’ll see you there.
Thank you for listening to Heal Yourself, Change Your Life.
All of the time people reach out and say how much these episodes have given them hope or touched their heart or helped them stay positive in hard times, or even woken them up to a completely new level of awareness of how amazing we all really are. If today’s episode touched your heart or expanded your mind in any way, please do me a favor and be sure to share it with those you care about or those you know who really need it.
As more and more people become empowered, it really will change our world for the better. That is the point and the power of these demonstrations is to create a radical shift in our world consciousness by showing everyone what we are all capable of. And of course, each volunteer will really need to follow through to reinforce their programming, to maintain their results.
But the point is, for you to see that you really can create rapid results in your health and your life if you really understand how to use your mind. You are incredible.
And I do wanna be clear though, that most people will not get results this fast on their own. I make it look very easy because of the discoveries that I made. You’ll wanna remember that there’s so much more going on in our minds at a deeper level than people realize.
