Many people believe that if they just picture themselves healed—healthy, happy, and thriving—that it will automatically lead to results. But is visualization enough to truly heal the body? Or could it sometimes backfire and keep you stuck?
In this quick IQ Episode, Brandy Gillmore shares the surprising truth about visualization, mind-body healing, and why deeper subconscious programming often holds the real key to transformation.

Welcome to Heal Yourself, Change Your Life. My name is Brandy Gillmore, and after recovering from my own life-changing injury, it’s become my mission to share with others the same discoveries I made that changed my health and my entire life. Our minds are truly incredible. The placebo is proof of this.
Each week I will take this simple awareness to a whole new level. I’ll even coach live callers to free themselves of physical pain using only their mind, and then I’ll provide you with a combination of practical and spiritual insights that you can use to master your mind, your emotions, and your energy to help you heal your health, yourself, and your life.
Let’s begin.
Hello and happy beautiful day to you. On today’s quick IQ episode, I want to share a question that came in from a listener about the process of self-healing. The answer to this might surprise you.
The question that he wrote in was this: He said, “Well, when it comes to mind-body healing, if we just picture ourselves healed, and we do that repeatedly, can’t that at least help to get results? And could it actually just work to heal us?”
Now, the interesting thing is, the answer is yes and no. That can be a part, but in some cases, it could just keep you stuck. And I want to explain this, because when it comes to our minds, they are complex.
So yes, of course, picturing yourself happy and healthy and healed is a great thing. But so often at a deeper level, people will have programming in their minds. For example, they might have a feeling at a deeper level that they don’t deserve a great life.
Now, if they have a feeling they don’t deserve a great life, imagine what happens if somebody feels that way and then they’re picturing themselves healthy and happy and great and healed. How do you think that goes?
It doesn’t go well. It can keep them stuck—very stuck—and it can backfire.
So ultimately what we want to do is—of course, this isn’t saying “don’t picture yourself healthy and happy.” What it is saying is that so often people will think, “Well, if I just think positively, if I just picture myself healthy and happy and just relax and picture myself that way, I can heal.”
And yet so often there’s counterintuitive programming in the subconscious mind that can keep you stuck. And by the way, that was one of the things in mine. It was a bit of a different thing, but you know, if you’re familiar with my story, part of what I had was a feeling of survivor’s guilt from 9/11.
I felt guilty for surviving. So then, which seems silly now, but at the time, that’s how I felt. So if I felt happy and great and wonderful and like life was amazing, I would have felt more guilty. Like I had this block, like I shouldn’t feel that way. So that was a block for me.
Or I’ll see people with all kinds of things—subconscious fears, connections to love or hurt or anger or upset. I’ve even seen people who were on track with success—really excited about it—but at a deeper level, they had a feeling like if they were successful, everybody would hate them.
So then what happens? Sometimes they end up sabotaging in one way or another. And I’ve seen people, part of that sabotage is ending up with a health issue. And so they end up with a health issue—and if they’re just picturing themselves healthy, happy, successful, and wonderful…
When they also simultaneously have a subconscious feeling that if they’re more successful, everybody will hate them—what happens? It can keep them stuck.
So to answer this question again—can we just picture ourselves being healthy and happy and healed? I would definitely say that unless it’s very recent—like if someone was just, just, just injured maybe—then maybe. But so often, there’s more to it. There’s subconscious programming. There’s underlying counterintuitive programming.
Not only that, but if somebody’s been injured for a very, very, very long time, it can also become part of their identity. Where someone’s self-image—they start to see themselves as being somebody who’s sick or injured. So there can be layers in it.
Just like a computer, if you will—our brains are like computers, and we have different links to different things in our minds.
So, very simply, ultimately what we’d want to do is yes, picture ourselves healthy, happy, having a great life—and also resolve any subconscious programming that’s going on at a deeper level. Because that’s when the magic happens. When we really identify what’s going on—subconscious emotions, fears, etc.—that are holding us back. Identify and change those. And that’s when the magic happens.
So, food for thought.
And by the way, that’s the quick IQ episode today—where we just do quick answers to questions that people have.
So on that note, by the way, if you have a question, feel free to send it in. I’m happy to go ahead and answer it all the time. I just want to give a quick insight or answer a question.
And if you are somebody who is looking for a deeper understanding of mind-body healing, definitely come join my free training. There’s a free 90-minute training to deep dive into the information and really understand it. So there’s that available as well.
Because the thing of it is—the more people heal and feel happy, healthy, loving, wonderful, and empowered in this world—the better this world is for all of us.
And so on that note, please, please—if you need anything, please feel free to email my team. Please do share this episode and have an incredible rest of your day.
I look forward to connecting with you on the next episode. We’ll see you there.
Thank you for listening to Heal Yourself, Change Your Life. All the time people reach out and say how much these episodes have given them hope, touched their heart, helped them stay positive in hard times, or even woken them up to a completely new level of awareness of how amazing we all really are.
If today’s episode touched your heart or expanded your mind in any way, please do me a favor and share it with those you care about—or those you know who really need it. As more and more people become empowered, it really will change our world for the better.
That is the point and the power of these demonstrations: to create a radical shift in our world consciousness by showing everyone what we are all capable of.
And of course, each volunteer will really need to follow through to reinforce their programming to maintain their results. But the point is for you to see that you really can create rapid results in your health and your life if you really understand how to use your mind.
You are incredible.
I do want to be clear though, that most people will not get results this fast on their own. I make it look very easy because of the discoveries that I made. You’ll want to remember that there’s so much more going on in our minds at a deeper level than people realize.
That said, if you want to send me any questions or comments, come visit me on my website at brandygillmore.com/podcast. And if you’re currently experiencing physical pain and would like to be a volunteer on the show, you can sign up there as well.
Lastly, please remember—if you do have any health issues, you won’t want to avoid your doctors. Instead, you’ll want to continue seeing them and make it your goal to blow their minds with what you are capable of with your mind.
Thank you.
