Welcome to Heal Yourself, Change Your Life. My name is Brandy Gillmore, and after recovering from my own life-changing injury, it’s become my mission to share with others the same discoveries I made that changed my health and my entire life. Our minds are truly incredible. The placebo is proof of this.
Each week I will take this simple awareness to a whole new level. I’ll even coach live callers to free themselves of physical pain using only their mind, and then I’ll provide you with a combination of practical and spiritual insights that you can use to master your mind, your emotions, and your energy to help you heal your health, yourself, and your life.
Let’s begin.
Hello and happy beautiful day to you. On today’s episode, I want to talk about the importance of finding your purpose — but in a different way than you may have heard. And part of the thing is, I see so often people feel like there’s this purpose that they’re supposed to be doing… and it’s not good enough, or they’re not good enough because their purpose isn’t big or this or that. But there’s a hidden key to all of this that I want to unpack.
So often, unfortunately, I see people who are ultimately feeling unimportant or not good enough because they feel like their “purpose” isn’t changing the world, or they feel like they’re not living their purpose, so they feel unimportant or not good enough or like they’re missing what they’re supposed to be doing. And so I want to unpack this in a very simple way.
So often when somebody is doing something in life and it feels important, then they can feel like their purpose is being met. They go, “Oh, well, this is important.” And so in some ways when people say something like, “I’m not fulfilling my purpose,” they would simultaneously say underneath that they feel like what they’re doing isn’t so important.
Ultimately where you want to start working with this — and I’m going to unpack this in layers because it’s a bit tricky — is an important nuance underneath. Because ultimately where we’re going is this: you feeling important in your life helps open up everything.
This is what I mean. If people are in a place where they feel, “I’m unimportant, I’m not that good, I’m inferior, I’m not doing what I’m supposed to,” that energy shows up all around them. And I’ve seen people who have been sick, injured, or stuck in relationships not feeling respected — whatever it is — because they feel this feeling of not good enough.
They got into spirituality and self-help… and instead of feeling uplifted, they felt less important, less good. And so instead, I want to invite you to think about it in a different way.
There are different times in our lives where we have different purposes. For example, in my own life, there was a point in time when my purpose was simply to heal myself. That was my purpose.
There was a point in time when I worked in technology — my purpose was to help people and businesses connect around the world. I did network engineering operations. And it felt like, “Okay, I’m connecting people around the world.” That felt purposeful.
And of course, when I was a child, my purpose was to be, to create love, to have fun, to grow.
In each of these phases — each completely different — I showed up at 100% of my purpose. And I felt important.
When I worked in technology, it was my purpose and I felt important doing it. And during my injury, I didn’t always show up perfectly, but as I started figuring things out, there was a determination. It felt important.
Patterns breed more of the same. Importance breeds more importance.
Sometimes I’ll see people who work in fashion say, “What I do is so unimportant.” And I say, “Wait a second. When people put on clothes, they can feel really good. It uplifts their energy. You’re helping people feel good about themselves.” That’s important.
We as human beings are required to wear clothes — if we don’t, there’s a problem. And if we wear clothing that makes us feel good, it changes our energy.
Or somebody in real estate — what are they doing? They’re literally helping people’s dreams come true. Somebody’s dream to own a new house. That is important.
Maybe that won’t be their “purpose for life.” But we all have multiple purposes.
The key underneath it all is simple: feeling important.
I’ve worked with many people who feel unimportant or unacknowledged. They feel like what they’re doing doesn’t matter.
But here’s the thing: when you feel unimportant, you send that energy out. And then you attract experiences that match it.
When I say, “Start feeling important about what you do,” it shifts things. They begin to feel fulfillment in what they’re doing — and it may not be what they’ll do forever — but from that energy of feeling important, feeling purposeful, feeling good, comes love, self-respect, and connection.
Two people could work the same job. One feels it’s meaningless. One feels it’s important. Their experiences will be completely different.
All the time, people say, “What is my purpose?” And when they feel like they don’t know, suddenly it’s like they got a demotion in life. Suddenly there’s spiritual pressure to have some huge purpose.
But here’s the thing:
If someone feels inferior, and then feels pressure to suddenly leap to a giant world-changing purpose, there’s a huge gap.
As you feel important and fulfilled where you are, you naturally expand into the next level of purpose.
What I do today — if I didn’t show up 100% in my past — I could never do this. Working in technology helped me understand networks. Healing myself required me to show up fully even amid pain and exhaustion. Each level built the next.
But some people do the opposite. They don’t like their job, so they show up less… and less… and less. The less they show up to life, the less life gives back. Their ability to grow diminishes.
I see so often that people struggle with this topic. They feel like if they don’t know their big purpose, they’re unimportant.
But a 6-year-old feels important. A 10-year-old feels important. And adults need to feel important too — in whatever they’re doing.
Feeling important helps you flourish, grow, and evolve into your next level.
If you feel unimportant or not good enough, that also grows — just in the wrong direction.
Just food for thought. I see people struggling with this all the time, so I wanted to bring it up today.
If you ask me whether this affects people’s health and their ability to heal — yes. All the time.
People feel like they’re not good enough or that they must first change the world before they can heal. Or they feel unimportant in their relationships and then the love isn’t there. It spirals in so many ways.

And of course, each volunteer will need to follow through to reinforce their programming to maintain their results. But the point is for you to see that you really can create rapid results in your health and your life if you understand how to use your mind.
You are incredible.
I do want to be clear though — most people will not get results this fast on their own. I make it look very easy because of the discoveries that I made. You’ll want to remember that there’s so much more going on in our minds at a deeper level than people realize.
