What if your energy could offer an important clue about how your mind is relating to healing, change, and life?
In this episode, Brandy shares one simple but counterintuitive insight that became pivotal during her own healing journey.
For years, she was doing many of the things she believed would help her body heal. Yet she continued feeling exhausted, depleted, and physically weak.
Then she began recognizing an important distinction that changed the way she understood energy and healing.
In this episode, you will discover:
• One simple insight that can help you understand your energy differently
• A common healing belief that may be contributing to greater fatigue
• How your mindset can influence whether you feel energized or depleted
• Why feeling more alive can be an important part of transformation
• A practical way to create more motivation and positive energy throughout your day
• How your energy may reveal whether something within your mindset needs to shift
This is not about overexerting yourself or ignoring your body’s need for rest.
It is about noticing a commonly overlooked connection between your energy, your mindset, and your ability to create change.
Sometimes, one simple insight can shift the way you approach your healing—and help you begin feeling more alive.

Welcome to Heal Yourself. Change Your Life. I’m Brandy Gillmore, and what I’m most known for is helping people to create radical transformations, and even demonstrating the power of the mind and self-healing under medical equipment so you can see the results. And my work has even been published in a medical journal because it’s truly incredible what we are all capable of when we understand our own minds at a deeper level.
So whether you’re new to this work or you’ve been studying the power of the mind for many years, I love that you are here. I love that we’re on this incredible journey together, and I look forward to sharing breakthrough information with you. That said, on this podcast, I’ll share two types of episodes.
First, self-healing episodes where I share key insights from working with live volunteers. And the second type are where I answer questions from the audience. That said, if you’d like to volunteer or submit a question, come visit me at BrandyGillmore.com. On that note, let’s dive in
So there’s a simple thing you can do to help increase your daily energy and also help you see if you’re aligned with healing and transformation. Now, what I’m going to share with you is very simple, and yet there’s also depth to it, and it can be a bit counterintuitive. And so if we just start with a very simple example, it’s this.
If you imagine children who are sitting on a sofa and you ask them to go clean their room. How do they immediately feel? Well, in many cases, they might feel exhausted or tired or not want to do it or sluggish, right? But then you mention to them, “Hey, do you want to go to Disneyland?” Now suddenly, they have more energy than they’ve ever had before, and they’re jumping up and down, so energized.
Now, if we take this simple example for a moment, and you stop and think about it. When you’re more aligned with something, you have more energy. Now, if we apply this to healing for a moment, it’s this. If you think about, like, when somebody is just sick with even a common cold, and they start to feel a bit better, what happens?
Their energy starts coming back, right? Or if somebody’s really, really, really sick, a lot of times they can also have low energy and feel more fatigue and whatnot. So if we unpack this a bit more. You know, during my injury, and I see this all of the time with other people, they had this belief that says you just need to relax, relax, relax so the body will heal itself.
And that was a belief that I got sucked into during my injury until I started realizing, and, and I started thinking, and there was, you know, a lot of things that happened at that time. But I started realizing that there were people who had been in hospice for many, many, many, many months and a long period of time who were in a deep state of rest and who weren’t healing.
And so I started questioning everything. A part of the reason that happened during my injury is because unfortunately I had a friend who passed away during that time, and she had been doing all of the relaxation, the vagus nerve, just trying to get her body to relax to be able to heal. And so that’s when I started thinking about things in a different way, and I thought, “Well, if relaxation is so healing, why didn’t she heal?”
And not only that, but why don’t people in a coma heal? Now, of course, what can be interesting is that there are people in hospice who do, a small percentage, who suddenly have spontaneous remission, who can suddenly heal for no particular reason at all. So it’s not just rest, because if it was rest and relaxation, everybody would do it.
Now, my point is, is that ultimately as we start healing, we want to have more energy, and that’s how you start to really see that you’re more aligned with healing. So for me, during my injury when I said, “Okay, I’m gonna just stop focusing on relax, relax, relax, theta, you know, vagus nerve, all of this stuff, and I’m actually going to really create changes in my mindset.
I’m gonna figure this out. I’m gonna work with the mind in a different way.” So I started doing that, and instead of feeling like I needed to relax, relax, relax more, I started feeling less and less fatigued and more energized And more and more energized. And more and more energized. And so the reason this is a little tricky when it comes to healing is because so often people end up programming themselves that they just need to relax, relax, relax, relax, relax, relax, relax to heal, and then it’s not happening.
And I did that myself for years, and I see that all of the time. And, and, and so instead, what you ultimately want to do is change, change, change, change, change. And when you start, as you’re changing, if you’re starting to feel more energized, then you know you’re going in the right direction. And that’s exactly what happened with me.
As I really started shifting my mindset, instead of feeling so fatigued and exhausted, I started feeling more alive. Now, of course, I’m not saying if you’re sick, go into overexertion and, and, you know, and stress yourself out and do everything in the world. I’m not saying that. What I am saying is, is that I would be careful about programming your mind that you just need to relax, relax, relax, relax, because I see that keep so many people stuck.
They think they just have to relax, and I did the same thing for years until I started realizing… And, and by the way, another insight that was really helpful for me was multiple personality disorder. The awareness that a person could have one illness in one personality, and research has shown that in a different personality, same physical body, in a different personality, they could have a completely different illness.
Or in another personality, no illness at all, even if they have trauma and negativity. And so I realized they didn’t have to relax to change. And I’m not, of course, I’m not saying don’t relax. Relax and enjoy, but relax because it’s fun. Relax because you enjoy time connecting with people and, or just chilling and relaxing.
Enjoy it, and, and do that because it feels good, right? Give yourself time. Absolutely. But instead for healing, how we know we start healing is we start changing the mindset, creating that real change. You actually feel more alive, more energized. It’s like if you told those children, the example, that y- that you just told them you could go to Disneyland and you’re like, “Relax.”
They’re like, “I don’t wanna relax. I feel, I feel excited to live, excited to be alive,” right? And so that energy, that’s the energy as you’re shifting and you’re creating the change. You want to feel that. And just so often I hear people saying, “Well, I just gotta relax to heal, to relax to heal, to relax to, to heal.”
And I did that and I can tell you, my m- um, not only I had a ton of fatigue, but my mus- muscles withered away. I’ve seen that so many times with people, even elderly people where they go, “Okay, well I just have to relax to heal, relax to heal, relax to heal.” And what ultimately happens is something like this.
They have more muscle wasting and more muscle wasting, and they’re weaker. So now getting up feels harder to do also because they have, they’re weak. So then they get weaker and weaker. So it’s like if you do it for an extended period of time and you’re weaker and weaker and weaker, then it feels harder.
Then you get up and it does feel more and more exhausting and more and more challenging. And so It just becomes a catch-22. And so just food for thought on that. And, and as… If you’ve seen pictures of me during my injury, I mean, my legs were like the size of my arms and my bones were sticking out all of the way down.
So I mean, it was… I, I, I did have a lot of muscle waste. But my point is, is more so just thinking about it in that way that y- y- So point being is that if you… Even if you do have a lot of muscle waste, you can still gain it back. So I don’t wanna make it sound like it’s the end of the road. It’s not. But that’s exactly what happened with me, is just that as I started shifting and changing my mindset, my energy started coming back and I started feeling more energized.
And so ultimately, that’s what you’ll want to do, is you’ll notice that… And by the way, at that time, I wasn’t really sleeping a lot either because I was in so much pain. But as I started really shifting, I did start feeling more energized. I started feeling less fatigue. And then ultimately, as I did, I also then started sleeping better and it…
You know, there, there was, there wa- And my pain was going down. There was a whole wonderful mix, but it wasn’t from just relax, relax, relax. It was change, change, change. Change your mindset. Really create that shift. So that is key. Now, by the way, I mentioned in the very beginning even just having more and more energy throughout the day.
And think about it like this, is that, you know, there are things that we need to do in our day-to-day. And with the children example, if we go back to that you know, if you think about… You say to them, “Go clean your room.” Suddenly they’re like lethargic, tired, yawning, exha- It doesn’t fou- sound fun. But of course, if you said, “Go clean your room, and then afterwards we can go,” etcetera, “go do something fun,” m- then they feel more motivated and more excited.
And so my point is, is with yourself in life, in day-to-day-to-day life, what can happen is this, and I’ve seen people do this where they’re kind of looking at things in a laborious way, where they go, “Okay, I have to go to work,” or, “I have to do this.” And they don’t necessarily do it on purpose. Their mind is just looking at things in that way, in a way that’s like, “Ugh, this is a drag.
This is a drag.” So they’re feeling that way, and then ultimately what’s happening is they’re always tired, so then they’re always on the coffee or the energy drinks or the this or the that trying to make it through the day feeling fatigued. And of course, nobody wants to feel exhausted throughout the day.
And so with that mindset shift of really incentivizing your mind or looking at things in a different way, you can feel more energized. You feel more alive. It feels good. It feels full of life, and of course it’s energizing. It can be healing, um, and it also can to help, help you to see what you’re more aligned with.
Because if you have energy that says, “Oh, I’m always tired towards this,” it, it can be looking at things in a negative way. Or it can be an integrity issue. I see that all the time where people are trying to move towards something, and there’s an integrity issue that’s off, and so it’s keeping them from that, or they feel exhausted or lethargic.
So that can happen as well. And so ultimately, it’s a little shift in your day, if you will. But a big shift that if you implement this where you’re really starting to look at things in a positive way, not just thinking positive, but in motivating yourself. But not just, “Let me get motivated about this and this,” but really working with your mind to see the positive, to see the excitement, to feel the excitement of what you’re doing or even what is after what you’re doing, so your mind feels incentivized in that way.
Because as you do and you program your mind to operate and work in that way, it’s like you feel more and more and more energized. And who doesn’t want more energy, right? More energy to feel more alive. And of course, also as you’re doing that, you can align with healing, with transformation, and with connecting and aligning with what it is that you’re wanting in life.
Because so often people can get stuck in that low energy perspective and, and feeling place that it can keep you stuck. So just food for thought of a few, uh, insights that can help create a beautiful, beautiful shift. And by the way, if you are somebody who is working on healing yourself, there is a link to a free training in the show notes, so that is available if you’d like.
