Welcome to Heal Yourself, Change Your Life. My name is Brandy Gillmore. And after recovering from my own life-changing injury, it’s become my mission to share with others the same discoveries I made that changed my health and my entire life. Our minds are truly incredible — the placebo is proof of this.
Each week, I will take this simple awareness to a whole new level. I will even coach live callers to free themselves of physical pain using only their mind. And then I’ll provide you with a combination of practical and spiritual insights that you can use to master your mind, your emotions, and your energy — to help you heal your health, yourself, and your life.
Let’s begin.
Hello and welcome to this week’s Quick IQ episode, where we talk about insights and questions. Today, I want to share with you a really powerful insight — what I call the number one mistake people make when working with their mind that keeps them stuck or prevents them from creating the transformation they truly want — whether it’s in their health or in their life.
And not only that, but this mistake can also create more negative energy and chaos in the brain. So let’s dive into what that is and how to shift it.
The #1 Mistake People Make When Working With Their Mind
Often, when people have some type of negative belief or unwanted way of thinking, what they end up doing — consciously or subconsciously — is they start arguing with the belief, trying to invalidate it, or make it wrong. And while that seems logical, it actually tends to increase the negative energy and keeps the belief stuck instead of transforming it.
Example: The Fear of Cats
Let me give you an example. Let’s say that someone has an extreme fear of cats. They feel cats are dangerous — that’s just their emotional reality. Now, what most people do is start invalidating that fear: “I shouldn’t feel that way. It’s ridiculous. I just need to push myself to get over it.”
Notice what happens there — the person begins arguing with themselves, rationalizing, and creating even more tension around the belief. This doesn’t transform it. It actually reinforces it.
Instead, what you want to do is create a new emotional association. Rather than arguing with the fear, decide how you actually want to feel about cats. Maybe you’d like to feel that cats are sweet, cuddly, kind, and loving. You love that they purr and bring warmth and affection. Then begin programming that new feeling into your mind and body — imagine it, feel it, and embody it.
When you do this, you’re creating a new neural pathway — a new way of feeling and being. After that new feeling is established, then you can go back and release the old programming. That’s when a radical emotional shift can happen — when you truly start to feel differently at the core level.
Creating Radical Shifts in the Mind
Now of course, we’re using the example of cats here, but this principle applies to every area of life. Whether it’s about your health, your relationships, or your finances — when you create that authentic emotional shift in the way you feel about something, that’s when you begin to see radical change.
In health and healing work, you’ll want to dial that process in very specifically to your personal patterns. But the core principle remains the same: you must create a new emotional truth and reinforce it until it becomes your subconscious reality.
Avoiding Mental Chaos
Now, I mentioned that arguing with your emotions or beliefs can create more chaos in your brain — and this is something I see all the time. People try to change their thoughts by debating with them, invalidating them, or trying to “logic” them away. While this shows a desire for change — which is wonderful — it can actually generate even more mental tension and resistance.
Think about it: every time you argue with yourself, you’re generating another layer of energy — the energy of defensiveness, justification, and resistance. That’s not the energy of transformation. It’s the energy of conflict within the mind.
Now, there can be value in invalidating an old belief, but only if it’s done with kindness, love, or insight. And that should only come after you’ve already created your new, positive neural pathway — what I call your Positive Replacement Neural Pathway (PRN). Because without that new positive program in place, the brain doesn’t have anywhere new to go.
The Key to Harmonious Reprogramming
So to keep it simple — don’t start by arguing with old emotions or beliefs. Instead, create that new, empowering neural pathway first. Then, once it’s established and you truly feel it, you can gently release the old pattern. Do this in a harmonious, uplifting way that feels beautiful and good — not like a battle, but like a release.
Anytime you work with the mind, it should ultimately leave you feeling more uplifted, positive, and energized. That’s how you know you’re on the right track.
Quick Tip for Today
If you notice that you’ve been arguing with your old beliefs or emotions — rationalizing, justifying, or telling them they’re wrong — pause for a moment. Instead, get clear on what your new positive emotional pattern is. Ask yourself: “How do I want to feel about this?” Then start feeling that new pattern deeply until it becomes real in your mind and body.
This alone can help you begin shifting in the right direction, because your subconscious mind drives your life far more than most people realize. While it feels like your conscious mind is in control, it’s truly the subconscious patterns that shape your reality.
Mastering the Mind to Transform Your Life
Getting new, positive programming into your subconscious mind is powerful — truly life-changing. And imagine if everyone in the world became skilled at mastering their mind, their happiness, and their energy — what a world that would be!
So on that note, please take a moment to share this episode with someone you love, someone you care about, or even someone you don’t know. The more people become empowered, uplifted, and conscious, the better our entire world will become for all of us.
And with that, I wish you an incredible, empowered rest of your day. I look forward to connecting with you on the next episode — we’ll see you there.
Closing Message
Thank you for listening to Heal Yourself, Change Your Life. People often reach out and share how much these episodes have touched their hearts, helped them stay positive, or awakened them to a whole new level of awareness about how amazing we all truly are.
If today’s episode touched your heart or expanded your mind in any way, please do me a favor — share it with those who could benefit. As more and more people become empowered, our world truly begins to change for the better. That’s the point and the power of these demonstrations — to help create a radical shift in world consciousness by showing what we’re all capable of.
Of course, each volunteer will need to follow through and reinforce their programming to maintain their results. But the key takeaway is this: you really can create rapid results in your health and your life when you understand how to use your mind.
You are incredible. And while most people won’t see results this fast on their own, it’s because there’s so much more happening at a deeper level of the mind than most realize. That’s why I encourage you to keep learning and practicing.
