Welcome to Heal Yourself, Change Your Life
My name is Brandi Gilmore, and after recovering from my own life-changing injury, it’s become my mission to share with others the same discoveries I made that changed my health and my entire life. Our minds are truly incredible. The placebo is proof of this.
Each week, I will take this simple awareness to a whole new level. I will even coach live callers to free themselves of physical pain using only their mind. And then I’ll provide you with a combination of practical and spiritual insights that you can use to master your mind and your energy to help you heal your health, yourself, and your life.
Let’s begin.
Hello and happy, beautiful day to you! On today’s episode, I want to talk to you about the importance of mastering your mind and energy. And the reason that it is key to take you to the next breakthrough and the key distinctions you need to know.
By the way, part of the reason that I want to share this with you is because so often I see people doing something that keeps them stuck, but they don’t realize it. And those key distinctions are crucial.
In last week’s episode, I worked with this beautiful volunteer, Corrine. If you listened to that episode, you may recall that when she came in, as soon as we started, basically, we said hello, and then she said:
“By the way, I want to give you some advice. You can’t help me. Nobody can. I’m one of those cases that nobody can help.”
And as we got into the session, just minutes into the session, she goes, “Oh my gosh, this all makes so much sense now.”
That’s what I love! Not only did she have this huge breakthrough—where she had been stuck for 40 years trying to heal herself—but she also has this beautiful heart and loving energy.
Now, my point is that she had been searching all this time and felt like nobody could help her. And I love her perseverance. I just resonate with that so much because that’s exactly what happened during my own injury.
I spent several years stuck in misinformation. And let’s be honest—my injury was in 2003, so that was over 20 years ago. And as I was going through it, there was a lot of misinformation, and it’s just continuing to increase.
What I ultimately want to do on these Master Your Mind episodes is point out the key distinctions that people are overlooking. And to be honest, one of the biggest challenges for me is speaking to those distinctions because my goal isn’t to make anybody feel wrong.
At the same time, these distinctions are everything. The more you have clarity and master your mind, the easier it becomes to get results.
Think about when you first start working on a computer. You may want to throw it out the window because it’s not doing what you want. But as you get better with it, it becomes one of your most effective tools.
The same is true with the mind. Our minds are the most advanced computers, and the more we understand how to use them, the more it changes everything—from healing to transformation and beyond.
A big issue that I see often is that people unknowingly link negative information to positive emotions.
For example, someone may feel like they want to be happy, but deep down, they believe it’s not safe to be. That’s exactly what we talked about in the last episode: Corrine felt that every time she was happy, something bad happened. So she was afraid to be happy.
This happens all the time—people inadvertently link up negative beliefs in their mind as they are doing mind work.
Let me share an example. I worked with a woman who had a lot of defensiveness around self-love.
She had been working on affirmations for 15 years to boost her self-love. The affirmations she followed every day were:
“I love myself. I love myself. It doesn’t matter what anybody else thinks. I love who I am. I love myself. I can stand up for myself. I can speak up to others.”
Now, compare that feeling to this:
“I love myself. I love others. I love who I am. I love this world. I love this about me and that about me.”
Do you notice the difference?
In the first set of affirmations, she was literally programming defensiveness into her mind. So for 15 years, she was unintentionally reinforcing the feeling that she had to always stand up for herself against others.
At a deeper level, she also felt guilty about loving herself. She had a belief from childhood that it was selfish and egoic to love herself.
So not only was she defensive, but at a subconscious level, she also felt guilt for loving herself.
Once we worked together, she said, “Oh my gosh, this makes so much sense!” And from there, she was able to reprogram her mind in a way that truly empowered her.
The more we understand our minds, the more powerful we become. We can tune in, understand how it works, and create pivotal changes.
By the way, it’s not just about personal transformation. Imagine if our healthcare system truly opened up to the power of the mind. The more we all understand how the mind works, the more change we can create for our world.
