Have you ever worked hard, showed up for others, gave your heart to something, or did your very best — and deep down, you just wanted someone to notice?
To see you.
To value you.
To acknowledge what you did — or even just acknowledge who you are.
And then maybe you judged yourself for wanting that.
In this short breakthrough episode, Brandy shares a powerful insight from her session with Claire, a beautiful volunteer who was doing meaningful work helping children learn, communicate, and connect — and yet, underneath it all, she was carrying a deep feeling of being unimportant.
And this is something so many people can relate to.
Because wanting acknowledgment is not necessarily ego. It is not something to shame yourself for. As human beings, we all need to feel seen, valued, loved, and important in some way.
In this episode, Brandy unpacks why this hidden need matters, how it can quietly shape the way you feel about yourself and your life, and the powerful shift that can begin when you start seeing acknowledgment in a whole new way.
This episode is a beautiful reminder that wanting to feel acknowledged does not mean something is wrong with you.
It means you are human.

Welcome to Heal Yourself. Change Your Life. I’m Brandy Gillmore, and what I’m most known for is helping people to create radical transformations, and even demonstrating the power of the mind and self-healing under medical equipment so you can see the results. And my work has even been published in a medical journal because it’s truly incredible what we are all capable of when we understand our own minds at a deeper level.
So whether you’re new to this work or you’ve been studying the power of the mind for many years, I love that you’re here. I love that we’re on this incredible journey together, and I look forward to sharing breakthrough information with you. That said, on this podcast, I’ll share two types of episodes.
First, self-healing episodes where I share key insights from working with live volunteers. And the second type are where I answer questions from the audience. That said, if you’d like to volunteer or submit a question, come visit me at BrandyGillmore.com. On that note, let’s dive in
Hello, and happy beautiful day to you. I want to add in a quick but important note to make this podcast very easy to navigate because today’s episode has a special format. Today, I worked with a live volunteer, and as you probably know, there are a lot of people who are now using AI to modify information online.
For that reason, we have taken an extra step to help protect our beautiful volunteer and the integrity of this work to help keep the information from being modified. And we actually love how this turned out because it provides you with even more information. This is how it works. On today’s episode, you’ll hear an overview of the person that I worked with, and I will provide you with simple but powerful breakthrough insights that helped our volunteer begin making a radical shift.
Then, at the end of this short breakthrough episode, if you are ready for a deep dive, you can click in the show notes to gain access to the actual self-healing session where I worked directly with the live volunteer. This enables us to help protect the information online from being modified while still continuing to provide you with powerful information to help bridge the gap between science and spirituality and personal empowerment, because it’s truly incredible what you are capable of when you learn to understand your mind at a deeper level.
That said, let’s dive into the simple but powerful insights that came from working with today’s volunteer. Here we go
So often I see people who are working on trauma healing or trying to release negative energy or emotions to heal themselves, and yet they’re overlooking the key to really creating that change in their lives and getting their body to heal itself. And that’s what I want to share with you today is this, is that, you know, when we s- look at it very simply, there are emotions that human beings need.
Now, the most common one you hear about is, you know, human beings need love. And for example, if an infant doesn’t have enough love, they can actually die, or even a senior who loses love, they can die of, you know, a broken heart or die of widowhood effect. So we need love and connection, or even loneliness can affect the health of a person’s body.
Now, the way to think about these emotions that we need, because there are multiple emotions that we need, but the way to think about them is like this, is if you think about a plant that doesn’t get enough sun, it’s not going to thrive the way that you would want it to. And similarly, these emotions or emotional energy that we need from love, from connection is one of the emotions that we need.
Now, another emotion that we need is this, is we need a feeling of attention. Now, let me unpack this a little bit because it can be very tricky, and so often it can actually be very counterintuitive. So first and foremost, sometimes people will hear the word attention and immediately think, “Oh, that’s horrible.
You shouldn’t need attention.” But think about it in this way. If a child doesn’t get positive attention, they can get what? Negative attention, right? Maybe you’ve heard that before. Now, if you stop and think about it, it’s a common thing that can show up, which shows you, if you stop and think about it, is that it’s an innate need.
It’s something we innately strive for, even if a child maybe shuts down wanting attention or wanting sympathy or whatever it is, or they can get in trouble just to get attention and acknowledgement and so… Or be a class clown or whatever it is, because it’s a need. And it’s not like at four years old, they text message each other and say, “Hey, if you’re not getting positive attention, get some negative attention.”
But there’s that need. And so even as adults, there’s a feeling of feeling like just acknowledgement from a, a loved one, a great job, a, like it, it… If we look at it from a biochemical perspective, even having that reward, that great job, you know, that feeling of reward, there’s a biochemistry to it. So there’s a positive chemical reaction that can happen inside of your body.
Now, my point is, is this, is to feel a sense of attention or acknowledgement is, it’s needed. And so often if people feel the opposite, if they feel a sense of feeling unimportant, and that feeling of just feeling unimportant, unacknowledged in life at a deep level, it can be linked to all kinds of health issues.
And that is tricky, and it’s also what was going on with my volunteer today that I worked with. Her name is Claire, just an absolute beautiful, beautiful being, and there was this deep feeling of not feeling important. Now, as I mentioned, it’s a bit tricky, so I’m gonna break this down even more because in my work, ultimately, part of what I identified was key negative emotions that affect the physical body, of course, we can see stress affects the physical body, and also key positive emotions that we need to fuel the body again, like the sun fuels the plant and a plant can flourish.
So we need that, and attention being one of those emotions. Getting some type of attention, acknowledgement. There’s a, you know, a dopamine hit, a biochemical response. And so… And if we think about dopamine, dopamine helps control motor skills. You know, there’s a, there’s a biochemistry to it that keeps us healthy and happy, and that is key, or is important for health and happiness.
So point being is this, is that sometimes what can happen, and I see this all of the time, is that this can backfire in very, very, very counterintuitive ways. For example If we just say we need attention or acknowledgement or to feel a sense of importance, a, a person can feel a sense of importance just from, from being a mom, from, uh, being a wife, from a certain job, or whatever it is.
So there’s a variety of different ways, from just a connection with the universe, uh, whatever that is, from taking care of animals. I’ve seen people who take care of stray cats who feel a sense of importance for feeding nature’s, you know, the world’s animals. And so my point is there are so many ways that a person could feel important.
Now, what’s tricky though is that so often I see people use this in a way, especially in spirituality, where it backfires, and they end up creating the problem where they feel unimportant, because you’ve probably heard this before, where people say, “Oh, you need a purpose. You need a purp-,” like it’s suddenly become a buzzword.
You need a huge purpose, and it has to be huge. And so what happens is, is people will feel unimportant if they don’t have some type of massive purpose. It’s like a keeping up with the Joneses type of thing that has happened. And so somebody goes, “Oh, but I don’t have a purpose,” and they suddenly feel unimportant, and I see that all of the time.
Now, the truth of it is do we need a purpose? I mean, technically, no. Does a five-year-old have to have a purpose or they feel shattered? No. Does a 10-year-old have to have a purpose or they feel shattered or sick or ill? N- no. So the thing of it is, technically, we as human beings don’t need, if you will, a purpose.
Now, have s- having something to look forward to, feeling important, we can feel important for a variety of different reasons. One of those could be a sense of purpose, if that makes sense. So, uh, we can have that, or a person can feel important, and they can feel important to their loved ones and feel excited about life and still flourish in a beautiful way.
And so we’re all here for different reasons. But the thing of it is, it’s kind of like this. One person could, uh, love fashion. Another person could love, uh, computers. There, there’s a variety of different things. Now, my volunteer that I worked with, uh, again, her name is Claire, just a beautiful, beautiful being.
Uh, she’s a teacher. She teaches kids. She teaches children foreign language and how to speak English and, and languages, to speak the language. Now, how important is that? Because if children are able to communicate, that’s their connection. That’s love, that’s connection, that’s friends, that’s community, that’s life, that’s making a living, that’s a job.
That is very important. And yet she’s feeling extremely unimportant, like it is not big enough, it is not important enough, it is not good enough. And I see this all of the time, that, that people will take something in their lives that is important and they make it suddenly unimportant. Now, by the way, one of the things that I talked about with her, uh, was even the idea that if she wanted to, um, she could, you know, open up big classes and video courses of, you know, maybe even teaching tons of children how to speak different languages and whatnot if she w- like, th- so many different things.
But my point is, is this To feel a deep feeling of feeling unimportant so deep inside for teaching children how to speak a language. Our world has gotten to a place where especially in personal development and self-help, where so many people are just saying, “Purpose, purpose, purpose, purpose.” You, it’s, it’s, it’s leaving so many people in this place of feeling they’re unimportant or they’re not good enough now suddenly because they feel like they’re, they don’t have a, a purpose.
And so my point is, is, is a few things, is number one, we’re all here for a reason. God, universe, energy, divine didn’t say, “Oops, there’s an unimportant one. Let me throw it to Earth.” Let me, let me have you… Like, whatever, universe, Mother Nature, God, whatever you want to call it, the divine, we’re all here. We’re all important just for being us.
We’re here and That feeling important then breeds more and more of the same. So feeling important even for the little things. And by the way, when I worked in network engineering operations, did I feel important? I did. And then I showed up, and I contributed to, uh, the team, and the way that I showed up ended up being very important.
It then helped people with that, and in technology, and I would figure out problems, and I felt very important in solving them for people and, and it was great. And my point is, is that even feeling important is an inside job. But so often I see people who are in this place where they’re losing importance, where they start getting into personal development or spirituality, and then they feel like they’re supposed to have a purpose, and then they feel what?
Unimportant, less important. And they don’t realize then that that starts affecting their health and their life, and then they have this diagnosis and all of these things because there’s inside their mind they feel like, “Oh, I’m not important. I’m unloved. I’m not good enough.” And it’s a deeper, deeper feeling inside.
And so that’s the insight that I want to share with you. Now, by the way, this session with Claire, where I worked with her, she’s got multiple health issues with heart issues, with scoliosis, a, a variety of different things going on with her health. But this was the key insight that I wanted to share just because so often I see people who start working on themselves, and either they’re just going into the trauma healing of the one negative after another, after another, and they’re going in that direction, not really realizing that there are other factors that affect health and not really taking these into account.
So that’s one thing. Or they get deeper and deeper, deeper into spirituality, self-help, personal development, and they’re told they need to have this purpose. And suddenly they’re working on self but also feeling unimportant or then… or locked into patterns of feeling not in integrity or there’s all different types of emotional patterns that come up at a deeper, deeper level.
And so the thing that I wanted to share is just this. Is, is just the simple awareness that we are all important, and the more you feel important, the more it shows up in life. Because also what happens is if somebody feels like their job or what they’re doing is not that important, so then they don’t show up, and they don’t treat it with importance, then of course the impact they’re making or how they feel about the work or their job or whatnot Doesn’t show up as being important because the results aren’t that great, so then it doesn’t feel important.
It just continues to perpetuate the very problem. And so just food for thought on that, taking in the awareness of course that you’re important. We’re, we’re all important. We’re important beings, and even just being important can be important to other people. But the more you feel important, and the more you know you’re important, and the more you just feel that in your day-to-day life, the more you show up that way, the more you show up that way, the more it just continues to flourish.
Of course, in taking action with… It’s like it, it flows into your actions, into your being when you really feel that sense. And so that’s the insight that I want to share with you today. And of course, again, if you’d like to listen to the entire session with Claire, you can click the link in the show notes, or if you’d like a free training on understanding how mind body healing works and how to get results in your life, there’s also a free training as well in the show notes.
