Have you ever felt like you’re doing all the “right” things to heal…
thinking positively, practicing gratitude, releasing negativity, working on yourself…
and yet somehow, you still feel stuck?
Sometimes the issue is not that you need to try harder.
Sometimes there is deeper subconscious programming underneath that is moving in a completely different direction.
And that can quietly work against the healing and transformation you consciously want.
In this episode, Brandy shares several surprising examples of how this can happen—and why understanding what is really going on beneath the surface can be pivotal.
You’ll discover:
• Why positivity alone may not be enough
• How subconscious associations can quietly interfere with healing
• Why repeatedly releasing negativity may still leave you stuck if the deeper pattern keeps recreating it
• How gratitude can become complicated when guilt or undeservingness is underneath
• Why identifying the specific subconscious programming can create a very different result
The goal is not to stop being positive.
The goal is to make sure your deeper mind is actually moving in the same direction as the healing and transformation you consciously want.
Because if one part of the mind is saying, “I want to heal,” while another part is still linked to guilt, punishment, attention, fear, or another conflicting pattern, simply layering positivity on top may not resolve what is really happening underneath.
Sometimes the biggest breakthrough comes from understanding what your mind is actually doing…and changing it at a deeper level.

Welcome to Heal Yourself. Change Your Life. I’m Brandy Gillmore, and what I’m most known for is helping people to create radical transformations, and even demonstrating the power of the mind and self-healing under medical equipment so you can see the results. And my work has even been published in a medical journal because it’s truly incredible what we are all capable of when we understand our own minds at a deeper level.
So whether you’re new to this work or you’ve been studying the power of the mind for many years, I love that you are here. I love that we’re on this incredible journey together, and I look forward to sharing breakthrough information with you. That said, on this podcast, I’ll share two types of episodes.
First, self-healing episodes where I share key insights from working with live volunteers. And the second type are where I answer questions from the audience. That said, if you’d like to volunteer or submit a question, come visit me at BrandyGillmore.com. On that note, let’s dive in
What if everyone knew how to use the power of their own mind? You know, so often I see more and more people waking up to the awareness of how incredible our minds are, and yet not getting the results where they feel stuck, and they’re not really creating the change that they’re wanting to. And so for that reason, I want to share with you a few key insights and misconceptions that keep a lot of people stuck.
You know, for example, one is this, is that so often I’ll see people who feel like, you know, if they can just bring in positivity, that positivity is the key to self-healing. And of course, positivity is great, and it is important. But the mind can be tricky, and we really have to be real with what’s real at a deeper level.
Now, let me give you an example. Imagine there’s a fifth grader who broke their arm, and so they go to school, and now they have a cast on. What can happen in this scenario? The fifth grader may get, um, everybody wanting to sign their cast, and suddenly this person is feeling like they’re acknowledged, and they’re getting attention, so they can feel happier than ever, especially if they were s- this fifth grader felt, before this felt ignored, unloved, mistreated, like not, like not loved or not connected or nobody was giving attention or lonely.
And then suddenly, with the broken arm, they can feel like the, the highlight of the class. Now, I’ve seen this all of the time, even in working with adults, but also working with children, because what can happen is that programming can get stuck in an adult mind At a very young age. So it’s programmed in because that happened to somebody that when they were in fifth grade, and now maybe they’re 40, 50 years old.
And so my point is, this fifth grader, going back to this scenario, can be happier than ever, can feel loved, can feel attention, can feel acknowledgement, and of course, consciously can want to heal, but can also feel at a deeper level, like this cast and this broken arm is getting them more love and attention.
And what can happen, and I’ve seen it all of the time, is that maybe the arm doesn’t want to heal, or maybe then they have one health issue after another, after another, and it becomes an ongoing pattern. In this case, this person can feel happiest when they have a health issue. Now, of course, they’re not wanting to have that, but I’ve seen that linked up in the subconscious mind.
And, you know, if I expand on this further, let’s say I work with somebody who’s 50 years old, who says, “Look, I just want to heal,” and they’re trying to heal, but this subconscious programming is buried in their mind from fifth grade. I’ve seen it so often because if you think about it, the conscious mind can want something completely different than the subconscious mind.
And if I unpack that a bit more, think about it this way. All of the time, there are people who are even going towards success and may sabotage it because of some unconscious pattern. So it’s not just a person not wanting to heal, it’s subconscious programming that’s sabotaging their efforts. And so it’s, it gets linked up at a deeper level, and that’s my point, is that the subconscious mind can be very tricky.
Or another example to kinda give you an idea of just how the subconscious mind can work, and it’s this, is that all the time I’ll also see people who are stuck in a spiral of always releasing negativity. Like, that is their goal, is to release, release, release, release. And they’ve been on a journey of releasing negativity for five, 10, 20, 30 years, 40 years, trying to heal themselves.
And what can happen is at a deeper level, if they feel they deserve bad things, or they’re guilty, or they deserve punishment, they can always keep attracting or feeling the negativity. And so it’s like trying to release negativity and yet always having something else surface or something else pop up because at a deeper level, they feel like they deserve it.
And so you can see how tricky the mind can be. And even in the case where you see people, and you’ve maybe heard me mention this before, where I’ll see people who are all the time, you know, bringing in a feeling of gratitude, of gratitude in life. And yet how often at a deeper level do people feel undeserving or guilty or feel bad about receiving?
What happens in this case, and what can happen, is a person starts bringing in gratitude and then also feeling more guilt or feeling awkward receiving or feeling not good. It creates that feeling of, of a lot of mixed emotions. It’s like trying to drive a car with one foot on the go pedal and one foot on the brake pedal.
It creates a stuckness, and so, so often I see people who are stuck in these situations. Now, my point is, is this, is that we really have to be real with what’s real. You know, so often people will be on this healing journey or this transformation journey, and they do have these beliefs. They say, “Well, you just have to really, really, really be positive.”
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen people even say, “I’m the happiest sick person you’d ever met,” because they feel happy. They’ve worked on the positivity. They’ve done all the positive things, and they feel happy, and yet their body’s not healing, and it’s, it can be because there’s that mixed programming at a deeper level, and it’s not necessarily like the, the example of the fifth grader.
It can be a variety of different things. My point being is that we really have to be real with what’s real and identify that specific programming, and the beautiful thing is, is this, is that when I see people really identify what is going on and change it, it’s incredible the results. It’s incredible what we’re capable of.
I mean, I’ve seen people who are told all of the time that they wouldn’t heal from whatever illness or problem that they’re going through, and they do. Their body heals itself, or people who have had a lot of hurt in, in relationships or love or connection who really feel amazingly loved, incredibly loved, happy, connected.
People who have felt stuck from healing for years even though they were happy, and yet when they understand their real mind and what’s going on at a deeper level and create that real change, they’re getting the results and success in all kinds of things, healing. So my point is, is this, is just that if you ask me how often I see people who are frustrated because they’ve heard of the power of the mind, they get it.
They see it. It makes sense to them, and yet they’re not getting the results. All of the time I have people come in, and they go, “Are you ki- I’ve failed at so many things. Can, how is this possible,” etcetera, and that’s what I want to share with you today is l- literally it is incredible. What we’re capable of is incredible.
But it does take a real change. And there are just so many misconceptions of, okay, well, let’s just do gratitude or, or, you know, let’s just do positive thinking. And, and while those things could be great, it takes a real, real change at a deeper level. And when you tap into that and you create that real change, it’s truly incredible what we are all capable of.
And so food for thought and just some things you might wanna think about is if you have been, if you are the person who has felt really, really, really positive and yet you’re not healing, look at why. Ask yourself what, uh, what else is going on at a deeper level? Or if you are the person who has been releasing and releasing and releasing and releasing and always feels like you’re in a negative loop of releasing, check in deeper.
What else is going on? Do you have a pattern of guilt or feeling like you deserve punishment, or what else is happening at a deeper level And if you’ve been doing gratitude, do you honestly feel deserving? Do you have guilt patterns? What else is going on? Because all the time I can see that backfire and, you know, and, and keep people stuck.
And even in my own life, I had survivor’s guilt, you know, from the events of 9/11. And so after 9/11, you know, feeling the feeling of guilt for surviving and whatnot, gratitude backfired for me. It kept me very stuck. And so just interesting when we really start to understand our own minds, what’s really going on because what one person sees as positive, another person can see as guilt.
And so just the biggest messaging is just be real with what’s real and really, really checking into yourself, knowing your mind, and really checking into your own emotions, your own mindset, what is going on, and transforming that. And yes, it’s a skill. It’s absolutely a skill. But let’s be honest, walking is a skill.
When we came into this planet, we didn’t know how to walk, we didn’t know how to talk, we didn’t know our names, and we’ve learned all of that by now. And so yes, healing is a skill. And, uh, and so getting good at it, we want to. And, and so often people just wanna, uh, bypass or just, you know, the positive thinking, the meditation, all that.
But when we really think about the skill of walking, the skill of learning to write, to read, to, to talk, you know, healing ourselves is absolutely a skill. And the better you get at the skill, the better you get at healing yourself, changing your life. And it’s, it’s, it’s an incredible skill that we can all really build in ourselves.
And so food for thought. And so on that note, by the way, if you are working on healing, uh, there is a link for a free training in the show notes where you can see even more understanding of how I’ve been able to get radical results and show people even under medical equipment so you can see the actual power of the mind.
So that is available. And as always, I want to ask you, please do take just a quick moment to hit the share button on this episode. You know, share it with somebody you love, somebody you care about, or somebody you don’t even know because the more that every single person in our world feels happy and healthy and loved and loving, truly the better this world is for all of us.
And so please do make a point to hit the share button, and please do make a point to have an incredible rest of your day. I look forward to connecting with you on the next episode. We’ll see you there.
